JellyB
I recently got a second hand red eglu which is waiting for when I can get some rescue chooks but in the meantime it is all clean and lovely but unused. I leave the run open so my girls have a choice to go in if they want to or stick with my original pink one. However, they just don't go in the red one at all and even when they are roaming aroudn the garden they always lay in the pink one and go to bed in the pink one, even if I've moved it after cleaning it. I'd be hard pushed to tell the difference in colour when it is dark so how can my chooks tell the difference? Is it coz the pink eglu "smells like home"? even after it has been cleaned?? I'm just curious - my chickens fascinate me
Martin B
No place like home! It's the same as us. Why don't we go to sleep next door, just because it's got a different colour door or we know it's not ours?
ali-s
there was an Omlet survey some of us took part in a while back. The result was that more eggs were laid in the pink Eglu.

Karen & co.
Oh, how interesting I've just got a 2nd hand red eglu for some rescue hens but at the moment it's in the garage waiting to be put together, perhaps I should put it out and see if the girls use it, all in the name of research karen x
JellyB
Am waiting to hear about the rescue hens. Think it may be towards the end of September but have to try and be patient
