Chillicat
Can anyone show me pics of your , , and eggs? ... And let me know what breed they come from, please? I have a vacant eglu which I will fill with three newbies and I'm looking at Cream Legbars or Skyline for the green/blue and haven't a clue about the white egg layer........any suggestions? Oh, I'd also like a dark brown egg layer. I have , (laying light brown eggs) and a Buff Sussex pullet (not yet crouching) in the cube, so I know I can put extras in there. All pics welcome. Thanks
Ain't Nobody Here
Here are mine . (I love an excuse to show off my eggs on an egg skelter ). The green ones are from a Columbine, the pale ones from a Pied Suffolk and the mid brown ones from a Rhode Island Red.
Cinnamon
Here are mine. The light brown ones are from a Daisy Belle & an Amber Star. The white is a White star, the dark brown a Welsummer. the blue is from a Cream Legbar & the more greeny blue from a Columbine
Tulip
I'm still awaiting my first blue egg from the Legbar, but we have a dark brown layer - she's a double-laced Barnevelder (absolutely beautiful-looking bird).
Madbird
Cream Legbar or Araucana Pure breeds will give you blue, or blue/green eggs Leghorn's should give white eggs Marans will give chocolate brown eggs Hope this helps?
Chillicat
Thank you everyone! ANH, I love the egg skelter, which I am now going to order! I viewed a range of hens yesterday and the lady wouldn't let me take them all home for some reason I've put my name down for a Speckeldy (for dark brown eggs), a White Star (?) (for white eggs) and a Skyline (for hopefully blue/green eggs) All of which will be available on 20th Feb Well, I think that's what I asked for, I was just soooo excited..........but me thinks I really should also have a Cream Legbar (for definitely blue eggs)......YES, that's what I want. Griffin
It's just Sods Law. Not all Columbines/Skylines will lay blue or green eggs. Some will still lay brown eggs, as my Columbine has recently proved to me If it's very important that you get a blue or green egg go for a pure breed or you may be a little bit disappointed. I still love Freya though
