We've been gradually introducing our 2 newbies, Myrtle and Martha, to our original hens, Minnie & Moose (following Claret and Egluntine's wonderful notes on how to do this). All seems to have gone pretty smoothly - a bit of chasing and pecking and lots of verbal abuse, but no bloodshed thank goodness. All 4 chickens have been spending the day together in their electrified netting area for over a week but had been putting themselves to bed in their respective eglus. However, we came home last night to find .... 4 chickens all snuggled up together in the same eglu Wonder if we'll have the same sleeping arrangements tonight

 

So, many many thanks to Claret and Egluntine for their clear and straightforward notes on how to do this. It has been so much easier than I was expecting.

Thanks laurmurf. I'm definitely pleased and really relieved - the 2 new chickens were my 8 year old's christmas pressie - so there was a lot riding on this being a success!

From start to finish it took just over a month, including a quarantine period of about 10 days.

Yes, it's very cute seeing them all in together. Very sweetly, they're in 2 rows, each facing their 'partner' - it was the same last night as well. I'm curious to see if the arrangement changes over time.
