Guest
you remind me, Dan - of a great summer game me and my brother used to play... (during long school holidays) it's a dare game - you go into shops with a dead serious face and ask for stuff that they wouldn't ever stock.. eg. at the bakers: "Oh, hello, do you have any woolen socks?" we used to think it was the funniest thing ever! When we got more experienced - you wouldn't stop at one thing - when they said no - you'd ask for something else. The skill is in not laughing (obviously) - and keeping a dead straight face... ahh - happy days! Phil

Guest
I've just listened to Gardeners' Question Time on R4 (I'm not a gardener, but I was in the car). Someone asked a question about how best to use her chickens in the garden and all of the panel had a view. It turned out that most if not all of the Specialist Gardeners keep chickens at home (just a few) and find them really useful in the garden, as long as they limit their use of different areas. One man said chickens are the best form of pest control. So the BBC has access to lots of home chicken-keepers . . .
