Abscess/cysts

Sorry, not a nice subject but does anyone else suffer with them and if so what has helped.

I had two last year that I ended up having to have cut out at the hospital under local  (I refused a general) as the two lots of anti b's (one after the other) worked to get rid of them at first but as soon as I'd finished them they came back with a vengance. I've had another one this year that the GP popped with a knife and yet another lot of anti b's and now I've got one under my boob. Of course my bra is rubbing on it and I'm too big to go braless unless it's in the house. This time a different GP has told me to put magnesium sulphate paste on it to draw it out but it doesn't seem to be doing that quickly and I'm in agony. Have only been doing this since Tuesday though. I've also had hot baths and had hot flannels on it.

I've been tested for diabetes, anaemia (was but the iron tablets made me sick) and had loads of blood taken last week at the clinic for various things and also am having the gatsroscopy to see how my ulcer is.

I'm wondering if I should get back to the GP tomorrow but that would mean cancelling my gastroscopy as the emergency appointments are in the morning.

I suffer from them too and they are absolutely horrible so you can have a big hug from me too  They pop up everywhere - all along my jaw, my bum, behind my ears  and are so painful plus they make you feel so self conscious all the time. I had one on my boob a few years ago and that was removed with the knife and touch wood has never come back. Apparently unless they are removed like that they will keep reappearing every couple of months.

I've had loads of antibiotics but none have worked one iota. I was tempted to ask to see a dermatologist to see if they can help.

There are quite a few websites that explain all about them. Perhaps it's worth you having a look.

Good Luck & Lots of Good Wishes xx

Hmmm.Father in law had a spell of them a while back..nasty big ones on his cheek and jaw  I think they were caused by a virus, but dont ask me any more details cos I cant remember sorry, but perhaps if anti b's arent working, perhaps suggest some anti virals instead? Hope you feel better soon as they can drag you right down!

Sorry everyone, but I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has been suffering with them. The two I had to have cut out at hospital, on the same day, were in great places. One on my boob and one on my backside plus two weeks of visits to the district nurse for dressings and no baths either only strip washes  Oh, and for the first time ever at a hospital I was seen by two very attractive doctors.

This one under my boob is still sore but I decided to get some Hepar Sulph 30c and the throbbing pain has nearly stopped. Was looking around last night and I found out that boils are usually caused by Staphylococcus bacteria. Was even wondering if perhaps this is something chickens carry? and that I've forgotten to wash my hands etc.

Don't know if it will help but I've also started taking vit c and a b complex.

If I find this works I'll report back.

Staphylocci are a normal inhabitant of the skin flora. However, they can cause infections if they can penetrate the skin. I guess, like thrush, it is something that you are more likely to get if you are run down and your immune system is not in tip top condition (hence the tests for anaemia and diabetes maybe?). There is an iron formulation that does not make you feel sick and is less likely to cause side-effects in general, but I can't remember what it is called at the moment. Will try to find out for you.

Hope you are soon feeling better.
