Omletina Kyckling
She's a vulgar talentless scrubber. Where are all those people who came down like a ton of bricks when I dared to make a light hearted comparison between a dear little alien and a minor media person. It's funny you say that - I've been watching this thread with interest, just waiting for various posters to come in and bombast those who've written negative comments about Lily Allen for their comments but "Ooops, word censored!"ody has!! Perhaps it's only when you say such things that they come out to play, eh Egluntine?!

Where are all those people who came down like a ton of bricks when I dared to make a light hearted comparison between a dear little alien and a minor media person. Well that was a bit unecessary Egluntine I must say! Maybe I've summed her up well... Can I add its not the language she uses that offends me (in real life I am Gordon Ramsay in knickers) but the co"Ooops, word censored!" vulgarity. Egluntyne
Ahh...I think I get it now....adverse comment about appearance or otherwise is acceptable if one dissaproves of lifestyle choices ( as in the Spoiled Child thread) or if one 'doesn't like' a particular celebrity or doesn't rate their talent too highly, but otherwise it is off limits. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Or their opinions, Egluntine. Or their spite. Lily has some talent, a fair whack of intelligence and some nice outfits, but she does love a know-it-all spiteful slanging match with a massive amount of writers and TV folks, and she invariably sounds dreadful while doing it. Her lifestyle is her choice, but if she's not going to be live and let live about it, she has to expect a little comeback (even if she's not a regular reader of the forum )
Egluntyne
I rest my case.
clootie
For what it's worth, I think Lily Allen deliberately sets out to provoke and likes nothing more than a slanging match. She'd be loving this I'm sure and so it all falls nicely into her cunning plan of world domination. Like I said in my previous posts, we all have our opinions about celebrity, appearance or otherwise, I have plenty of my own and if you choose to share those opinions with others then that's entirely up to you but I try to adopt the approach of live and let live and keep my thoughts to myself, anyway, there's nowhere near enough room on the page to list mine. Mrs Frugal
She's a vulgar talentless scrubber. Where are all those people who came down like a ton of bricks when I dared to make a light hearted comparison between a dear little alien and a minor media person. I wasn't going to comment but I will as I was one of the people who didn't join in the laughing at Sarah Kennedy or Victoria Beckham's expense. Seeing people making fun of someone in the public eye's appearance makes me feel uncomfortable because unless they are happy to shell out thousands of pounds on cosmetic surgery, their appearance can't be controlled, just lived with and hopefully accepted. However, I feel differently about the behaviour of someone in the public eye as that CAN and SHOULD be controlled. I don't know much about Lily Allen and have never bought any of her records so I can't comment on her talent but if her behaviour has earned the comments about her in this thread then they are probably deserved. If she's in the spotlight, she could and should be a better role model for today's youth.
Egluntyne
So should Victoria Beckham in respect of weight and food issues but she is untouchable on this forum evidently. I Know nothing about Lily Allen apart from being vaguely aware of her music and that she is Keith Allen's daughter, so can't comment about her. Given the outpouring of disapproval re the Sarah Kennedy thread I was amused and fascinated by the inconsistency in attitudes to pejorative comments about people in the spotlight. *shrugs*
Mrs Frugal
So should Victoria Beckham in respect of weight and food issues but she is untouchable on this forum evidently. If you read the Victoria Beckham topics, you'll see that I didn't contribute at all so my opinions over her weight and food issues aren't documented . I was commenting on the comparison threads. Her weight problems are something she needs to deal with and are probably out of her control. Her behaviour, however, has always been perfectly acceptable as far as I can remember. Rhapsody
Ah but there is a huge difference between having a pop at someone because she is daring to age in the public eye and outing LA (and I'll loudly and proudly say it again in case anyone wants to flame me Egluntine, bring it on) as a VULGAR TALENTLESS SCRUBBER. Women don't rush out and lie in the sun to look like Ms Kennedy after seeing that photo of her without makeup on, but young girls do buy LA's music and aspire to her lifestyle. As Spiderman's uncle said "With great power comes great responsibility" *sighs*
Egluntyne
This will be my final posting in this thread as this could go on for ever but it still seems to me that people are fair game for criticism if they don't measure up to certain standards. Like the woman in the 'spoiled child thread'. Yes, I dare say she made choices that many of us wouldn't have opted for, but because she didn't measure up in certain folks eyes, she was subjected to comments about her dress sense, her hair style, name calling etc. Yet she was a successful businesswoman who had started from scratch and in that respect could have been seen to be a role model. clootie
I'm off to read the "Spoiled Child" thread..............
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I've just reread this thread and can't see anyone slagging off Lily for her appearance or weight. The comments are all about her behaviour and her music/talent. Perfectly fair discussion by the looks of it. Where is the Sarah Kennedy/Vicky Beckham thread? Are they related threads at alll? Al
I don't know anything about Lily Allen but, knowing I love all things hen-related, my sister excitedly sent me a link to her video with chickens in it I had to watch it on mute as my husband is working not 2 foot behind me, so I couldn't comment on the song but I'm quite happy to see chickens portrayed on TV in a positive light (rather than as figures of fun) for once. The other night I watched the film Borat, and I was a bit upset that the main character carried a chicken around in his bag. There was one part when his bag came open and the chicken was running around in a busy subway train. I'm sure no real harm came to the chicken but I still didn't like it.
