Jules.
The snowdrops in the neighbour's garden are just about coming out, & I'm quite sure that this time last year my daffodils were nearly ready to flower. Maybe this year the bulbs are flowering at the right time, since the winter has been a "proper" one, & a cold one.
MadMitch
My snowdrops have been out about 2 weeks and my daffodils now have buds on them. I only have 4 crocus out so far.
The Dogmother
There was an article in the paper about this - apparently the snow that stayed around for so long delayed all the bulbs
Phoebe
I have a pot of crocuses just out today, but they are rather weedy looking this year. Not surprising i suppose, because even where it has n't snowed, we have had precious little sun recently and no warmth.
Valkyrie
Ditto - our snowdrops were much later. When I visit a farm in Whitchurch, the road is always lined with snowdrops in early January. When I went around the 25th-ish, there were no signs of any, although there was a small clump on the A30 in Basingstoke. I took mum with me today and we saw tons - as there should be. We both said how late they are this year - especially with daffs almost in flower. Some clumps still have yet to open and just showing glimpses of white. Guest
YES - last year at our spring village show we were all complaining that our daffs were way past their best. This year I think we'll be struggling to find any actually blooming! It's on 12th March and none of mine have come into flower yet.
fowlbird
crocuses all flowering in our grass verge, daffodils out front and back, tulips out back and bluebells coming along nicely up the top of the garden all as normal
fowlbird
and the day lilies are coming up earlier

prudance
Gosh Fowlbird. I'm only 20 mins from Reading but snowdrops here have only just come out and daffs have a long way to go yet!
Shirl
I'm in the same boat as you Prudance. I was beginning to wonder if we were going to get any flowers.
Phoebe
Yesterday I found 2 clumps of snowdrops in our field that I did n't know we had. Lovely surprise - worth clearing out all the nettles in the autumn, if this is what was underneath
Seagazer
I'm quite relieved to hear that some people's bulbs are late - I thought the chickens had eaten the shoots! There is hope I might have flowers in the garden after all
Patricia W
In my garden, just south of Oxford, the sun has brought all the crocuses out, and you are right, the day lilies are growing apace, as are the perennial cornflowers... I think Spring has sprung- at last!
