fluffyknickers
Our linkabord didnt come with the cube last week so nightfreight delivered today - wow they dont have personalities do they! I was in the shower when he was knocking so I ran down with a towel round me and said "look at me, its enough to put you off women for life" ha ha! He said "sign here"!!! Anyway, had a look at it tonight and I love it - so simple yet effective and cannot wait to get it round my cube and run to finish it off. You can order directly from them too and found them to be very helpful (however it was cheaper to get from Omlet because of the delivery as I was already ordering everything). You can make loads of things and raised beds look great with it - they have composters too. Pretty much any size as well. Now I am just thinking what else I can do with it! Michelle ******************ADDED***************** Some photos on flickr of the linkabord. You can buy a set up from omlet or go to http://www.linkabord.co.uk. http://www.flickr.com/photos/michelle260377/?saved=1 Edited February 26, 2009 by Guest
Ain't Nobody Here
Can you post some piccies of it ? I've got plans (yes, I know, more plans ) to get a patch of ground at the end of our garden rotivated while they're doing the lawn next week with a view to raised beds and a veg patch (bit nervous, never done it before ) and I think I'd like Linkabord but haven't really seen it in action. Sorry for the ramble .
Egluntyne
It is fab stuff. I have several raised beds mad with linkabord......and a compost bin.
Ange1
I'm a fan too. I've four 1mx1m square raised beds for veggies, keeps the veggies slighltly out of way of the chickens, with the help of some chicken wire too.
Dodge77
Can we see a pic as i have know idea what it does but soundds like what i need - if that makes sense
fluffyknickers
Okey dokey - just on way out to town but will take photos when I get back of the linkabord (only just put it together outside took about 5mins without the dowels or caps on). Will also try and take some more pics of the door close up and open - however the chickens are grounded and not allowed out for a while (due to funny pooh!) and every time I go even towards the door they are on me trying to get out. At the moment I have the cube and run sitting in a 2m x 3m rectangle of linkabord. The area outside the run and covering the skirt is going to have either woodchip or bark chip and aubiose inside. Then we have a little area from the shed to the cube and run with some slabs and bark chip - just to try and make it less muddy and a bit more aesthetically pleasing!!! Anyway will take photos and put on here later. x PHOTOS ON FLICKR LINK ABOVE - will try to add some direct to this post!

fluffyknickers
Dodge - I got it from Omlet as ordered it with the cube and chicks etc. However the linkabord people are brilliant and can help create the size you want. its www.linkabord.co.uk M
Tiggy
I've got several link-a-board beds in my veg plot of various sizes, they are great, dont rot and keep the soil warmer, and made from recycled plastic
Ain't Nobody Here
Could you make a 3-sided Linkaboard bed? I have a brick wall which I'd planned to put the bed against. Or are the kits more economical so I'd be as well buying a kit? Are they pegged down at all or are they heavy enough not to blow about? Our planned plot is quite exposed . Tiggy
they are pegged down, each corner has a dowel knocked through into the soil so I suppose a 3 sided one would be OK but you may find that buying a kit is cheaper, Harod Horticulture also do them and have special offers from time to time (just google the name)
Old Speckled Hen
Looks wonderful.... so I Had a look at the compost bin ........ Blimey isn't it expensive. You can get a similar one from the council for £
Tiggy
the compost bin is really expensive so I gave it a mis, I've got one from the council too £
Ain't Nobody Here
I've just placed an order for two 1m x 1m Linkabord kits . Veg growing, here we come .
AJuff
I ordered link-a-bord earlier in the week for my new raised bed in the bottom of the garden. I spent the afternoon dismantling the cube run and lifting the paving slabs. It's all ready to go when it arrives. It's all so exciting!!! AJuff
Oh I forgot to ask do you have to cut the dowelling rods to fit in the corners?
ali-s
I didn't cut the dowling and used it to secure the boards into the ground. On one of my beds I left the dowling slightly proud of the top of the bed so that I could drape gardening fleece over the bed without out it touching the plants. wiblick
I got blue linkabord to match my eglu! Of course it's an entirely different blue, but no matter. I got the split raised bed kit and two 1 meter beds for my little veg patch to be. I've already played with it in the back garden, it takes bare minutes to set it up, and mine is back in its boxes now waiting for the hen run to be finished so as I can concentrate on it. dancing cloud
I'm a huge fan of linkabord too and have five 1m x 2m veg beds in it (3 working beds and 2 little hennie playgrounds at the moment!). Mine came from wigglywigglers as they were cheaper than anywhere else at the time. It's easy enough for even me to put together and the veg has done really well in it for the last few years, so I'd certainly recommend it
Ain't Nobody Here
We just put ours together today and put them in the veg patch to see how they'd fit. OH said he wants me to get another two .
