Sarah B
Hello, My Madras has pooey knickers. She is not ill or anything but doesnt seem to preen there and the knickers need a wash as looking rather crusty. She doesnt show any signs of discomfort as her vent is clean. What is the best way to do this? She doesnt like being picked up much, I thought warm water in a bowl and maybe some ecover washing up liquid? I really have no idea so any suggestions will be taken on board. Thanks in advance, Sarah
Egluntyne
That is the way I do it, with a couple of bits of old towel....one to wash, the other to dry. I also trim any really manky feathers if necessary, with blunt ended scissors. Pooey knickers can be a sign of worms, so it might be worth giving her a course of Flubennvet. Sarah B
Hello Egluntine, it's been a while! I hope you are well. Thanks for that I'll give it a go at the weekend and I am well overdue to worm them but the weather has been so awful and dark! I'll administer a doctored Flubenvet sweetcorn niblet right now and will continue for a week see if it helps. Thank again, Sarah x

AJuff
Pooey knickers can be a sign of worms, so it might be worth giving her a course of Flubennvet. Well I didn't know that. You definately learn something new on here every day!!! I was just thinking about washing one of my marans bottoms as it always seems to be pooey. prudance
Hi, I've got a pooey knickers girl too. She started getting dirty immediately after I wormed them all last month! She's also the first to start laying this week. Her poos are normal and I can't see any lice so I think that's just the way she is.
