Third time lucky - I've got a pup.

Recommended Posts

I was in our local Pets at Home yesterday and decided to look on the board they have for pets for sale.

I spotted an ad for a yellow labrador x that is 6 months old and being rehomed as his owner was having to take on more work. She didn't want him left at home alone all day. I phoned to ask her a few questions etc and she explained that someone was due to come over with their dog, but she would get back to me. She sent me a text to say it was a no show and to ask if we'd like to go over this morning with Benson to meet Trigger.

They played really well together apart from Benson firstly trying to hump him  I'm pretty sure it was a dominance thing though. The lady was happy for him to go to us :dance::dance: so we brought him home and let him and Benson have a good play in the garden. We have put Triggers crate in the kitchen for the time being until he and Benson are more used to each other. We've been sure to make a big fuss of Benson and to let them both have space away from each other.

I don't think Trigger has had that much training, he is food lead like most labs though  so am hoping that will help with training him. I also plan to enrol in a local class soon.

As soon as we can get Trigger to stay still i'll try and get some pics for you all :D

He had a good night :D We were up at 6 though as thats what time the previous owners gave him breakfast. I'm going to try and gradually make this a bit later, we're normally up at around 7 to get Adam ready for school and see to the girls.

We've just taken Trigger for a walk down the lane and with the help of some treats he was very good. I even got him to sit when one of my neighbours approached with his dog. We let them have a quick sniff and then carried on. When we got back home Adam and I stood either end of the garden calling him between us and i also started to try and teach him lie down.
