vetty82
Darren from Omlet arrived at 8:45am today with my lovely green cube and 6 gorgeous hens. I was so excited!! And after spending the whole day in and out in and out with the kids looking at them, we eventually had to put them to bed, as they hadnt a clue where to go! One was trying to roost on the Grub bowl. We tried the torch trick but to avail, so muggins here had to climb in and pick each one up and stick her in the cube. Hmmmmmm with each one that went in, the other one hopped out. At one point I was being flapped and flown at from the steps to the cube. I'm sure they thought it was a game!!! The neighbours must have had a hoot watching me - eventually I called hubby and he opened and shut the cube door with each hen that went in and finally after 20 mins of Carry On style chicken collecting we finally got all the girls to bed literally as it went pitch black. Phew. Lets hope tomorrow is a different story - if they think I'm doing that every night then they've got another thing coming!! Here are some photos because I know you will all shout at me if I dont show you!! http://www.new.facebook.com/album.php?id=516828372&aid=93338 Vetty xx

atsw
I can't get access either . Don't worry about them not yet knowing were 'home' is. Once they wake up in the morning they will start to figure it out. You might have one or two more nights of putting them to bed, but after that they will all go in on their own. Sky
Yes, I can imagine your last night's procedure as I was doing the same a couple of nights earlier. We only had one night of getting them in and one morning of getting 4 out of 5 out!!! On the second night up they went on their own as good as gold so hopefully you won't have to go crawling today I am loving mine and although people say chickens are pretty dim as far as I am concerned they are learning pretty quickly - quicker than my dog does Your photos are lovely, I wish I had got more of mine on the first day but I was too busy trying to detach the dog from the side of the netting!! All is calming down now though

Congratulations indie Hi Indie, Yes, all my girls are Omlet chickens. I ordered 3 Gingernut rangers and 3 miss pepperpots. The man who delivered them tried to find 6 hens that all looked different so we could tell them apart - and he managed it really well. They all look completely different!!!! I have one deep brown hen, one medium brown hen and one white and brown hen (all ginger nuts) and then I have one jet black hen, one gingery necked and black all over hen and one with a good mix of ginger and black all over. We have a cube with 6 hens and there is LOADS of room for a few more in there!!! xxx Edited to say that my hens are 20 weeks old and apparently will grown more!!
