Valkyrie
When the alarm went off this morning on the radio, the DJ was talking about tax on chocolate. Now I thought "hah, April Fool"! Then I realised that it was still March (strange how your mind works when it isn't awake). I thought it was already taxed - VAT. Anyone seen the news? Tessa the Duchess
I heard it on Radio 4. Some Dr. in Scotland I think, has tried to persuade the General Medical Council that it would be a good idea to tax chocolate to try and curb obesity He lost the motion by 2 votes Tessa
Avalon Fantasy
Ohh dont get me S* started.......... I had written a post but as I posted it I got..a post saying the board was being updated... so lost the post... I think this is a garbage idea, it may be in jest, it may be in this doctors eyes for real..but the upshot of all this is that he is suggesting that its chocolates fault (amongst other things) that is helping create an obese society..patently less obesity means less cost to the health service.. Ok good thing.. However, no one forces people to buy bars and bars and bars of chocolate, packets of biscuits, consume acres of crisps ..the list is endless. Fry everything to within an inch of its life, consume burgers daily, have takeaways daily.. Its become a lets blame someone else for our condition society. I`m not twiggy, I`m not anorexic either, I actually cook real food I grow many of my veggies and no I`m not a raging lunatic that wants to hunt my own food, L, but I do realise that if I eat well and have a few things that I like without going insane I will enjoy life and hopefully not find myself part of a program that shows me unable to leave my home in 3 years time. Screams* eek..its a bit of a rant day today.. hells teeth..L
Valkyrie
Well if they ever do tax choccie to the hilt, they may as well add butter, cream, pasta and my biggest vice of all - potatoes (although I'm not too keen on crisps anymore). He lost the motion by 2 votes That's a relief, Tessa, as I sit here stuffing Minstrels. Although I do eat healthily too - just a little too much of everything. Nothing quite like wandering in the greenhouse and grazing on salady bits and tomatoes - which are like little sweeties in the summer. I used to work with a really thin girl - she would eat anything and everything. Huge bars of chocolate or cream doughnuts and never put on weight - I was quite jealous! So a tax on choccie would be a punishment to non-obese people as well. Unfair, glad the idea was nipped in the bud.
