Geoid
Its a good thing you have dropped ICT, its a boring subject and the extra lessons for Science will be very useful. Trust me, I know! (A little off topic, but I got an A* in a recent biology exam )
Guest
Shame you dropped IT - useful in so many areas if you are a generalist rather than a computer expert. Never understood why science became so important - did one science when I was at school and learned a lot - mostly about how to play 9 card brag! tom123
I know exactly how you feel! I have 8 tests next week all on chemistry and physics! I have chosen... Physics Chemistry Biology Geography Religious Education (short course) P.E Spanish Media Studies Food Technology Maths English lang. English Lit. I hate revising it's the worst bit about tests, I dont mind the actual test just the revising! Good Luck! Tom
Geoid
For revising, print off the subjects syllabus and revise from that. Tick off the stuff you know, revise the stuff you don't. Anything not in the syllabus won't be in the exam.
Plum
Good luck to you both. Keep your nose to the grindstone Scramble. You need to let yourself have a bit off time each hour, no-one can concentrate for too long and still be effective.
kitbag
i agree Fred - the books like CGP are good, but there is stuff you don't need to know, and it may confuse you!! Just make sure that you know which exam board you are sitting! My maths teacher told me we are sitting an OCR paper for my final exam at the end of the year (im in year 11) and we are actually sitting AQA!! I have been revising for OCR!! gggrrr! hillfamily
Glad to see you are all offline and studying hard. Or have you not got up yet. If you were to ask any parent of teenagers, I think you'll find Option 1 is our dream :D but.......... option 2 is normally the truth

Leicester_H
Well the options have finally been given in and my (hopeful) lessons for next year are:Physics Chemistry Biology there could be one more but unfortunately our school only allopws you to do separate sciences if you choose it in Option A, so I had to drop I.T/ i-Media Hi - As a Physicist (BSc, MSc, PhD), I'm glad to hear that some of you are doing seperate sciences. Since the number of people doing science is decreasing, it must be a good career option - in demand subjects usually get better salaries. Science is just so important. This very forum is a result of internet technolgy (developed by a Physicist to facilitate communicating research info.) Many medical inventions MRI , CT scanning etc are direct results of Physics experiements. Who can doubt the impact of DNA fingerprinting worldwide ? etc. etc. Science produces real tangible benefits. Also, its not just the actual knowledge, but also the way of thinking that studying science enhances and other transferable skills. Its a pity you can't do IT as well though - I don't know what syllabus is like, but the subject really does complement sciences. (When I was made redundant, I took an MSc in IT which helped me get my current Job) Good Luck to veryone with exams coming up, H
Leicester_H
re - revising I found it helpful to try to make summaries of topics, and then summarise further until I had the bare minimum. I would then think about about these items, expanding on them in my head. So you have to remember the bare minimum, which if you understand you can expand upon. So eg. for history , what are the key periods. Then for each period , what are key events, list events - what do these events imply, lead to etc. Revision technique is very important and different styles suit different people but I would emphasis that is you UNDERSTAND things (as opposed to just trying to REMEMBER things) you are less likely to panic about trying to remember loads of disconnected facts. As I said before, GOOD LUCK everybody, H
jlo
Good luck to all who have exams coming up soon. I am slightly concerned that my son (Year 9), who has also just chosen his subjects, has nothing coming up that requires any revision ....or so he tells me!! Hmmm- had better make some enquiries
