Third cat - meet Cleo! With pictures

Recommended Posts

Here's some photos of Cleo, one showing her damaged face :(, one showing what a sweetie she is :D and one showing her thinking about her own blog  Apologies for the size of the first photo - it will not let me resize it

She and I had words when she tried to use the top of the coffee table as a scratching mat, and I directed her to the ramp she is sat on in photo 2. When Cleo scratched that she was lavishly praised, so now when she wants attention she runs to the ramp and scratches it looking all hopeful :D !

She really has the sweetest temperament and is very cuddly and playful. Loki hasn't played with her yet, but he has shared my bed with her (with me in between being used as a pillow!) and he does seem to be getting more used to her. Puddy no longer growls, unless Cleo looks like making actual physical contact - no sniffing of tail allowed  . She's fascinated by the hens and I don't think she's ever seen chickens before, but she's quite tiny so no threat to them (and they're a rabble anyway  ).

Off to the vets tomorrow to get Cleo vaccinated/microchipped and to talk about her medical treatment and weight management. Just in case she thinks she might be abandoned outside the vets again, I've already told her she's my little girl now and definitely coming back home with me :D

The damage to her mouth was caused by an ulcer that has basically eaten away her top lip. Details in my earlier post here -

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=41696

The vet who has been treating her in the shelter said today that the ulcer had not responded to the usual treatment and they had resorted to a very old-fashioned drug as a last resort before putting her to sleep. He also said the shelter had not thought she would ever get a new home and how delighted he was. I cried all the way home  (and then had to pull myself together to go and make the speech at a retirement do).

It still makes sad to think that she had to wait eight months for someone to love her, just because she isn't traditionally pretty and needs half a pill in her food once a week :(, but I'm so glad she chose me and you can rely on me telling her every single day just what a beautiful little girl she is! :D

She is beautiful. I think her mouth makes her look cute, I can't believe it took that long for her to be rehomed, poor love. I've been away for a few days, but it's so nice to come back and see pictures of her, and hear that she is settling in well with the rest of your cats :D
