Linda
Eeewwww! I've checked my flour cupboard and found some creepy crawlies too. Just how I wanted to spend my day off, washing out my kitchen cupboards.
The Dogmother
After the infestation from Tesco, I regularly turn out my cupboard and clean it with a hot Milton solution, but I still get the little blighters in the cupboard, just not in the flour
Louise
It is the flour that is infected so even in plastic you can get them
The Dogmother
I must have been lucky to have clean flour since then Louise
Louise
It isn't that common I have only had the problem once too Clare but by the time I found it they had spread so I am not sure which product they entered the house in
Lesley
I opened a pack of dried porcini mushrooms once and lots of tiny moths flew out

Guest
whilst the crawly things are most likel;y to be flour - I recently had lots of crawly things which were moth pupae - they like just about any kind of dried food.. they were in rice, flour, sugar, cereals - you name it - I think I started a thread about them a while ago.. http:// http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5532&highlight=moths they were Indian meal moths... it took me ages to eradicate them - but now my larder looks like a page out of that famous magazine - Habitat Anally Retentive Food Keeper Monthly.. everything is in plastic or glass storage tubs - Anthea Turner would be proud! kannie
I used to inspect residential care homes, and in one small home for people with learning disabilities the staff were perplexed by maggots climbing over the kitchen walls. They'd asked an environmental health officer about it, and he'd told them the maggots must have hatched out of eggs in the paint on the walls! I asked them to show me their cereals cupboard, and an old packet of porridge oats was completely crawling! Nice when a bit of feminine intuition (or personal experience? ) can get you further than the professionals!
