Pinkfairy
Hi, This is my first post to the forum but I hope you can help! I have had my bunny, Socs (Socrates) for 6 months now and we are all very happy, but my husband is concerned about keeping him warm in the Rablu over winter . I am confident that he will be warm enough but what do others feel? He has plently of shredded paper/sawdust and hay for bedding .... In anticipation Louise
Happy-Mama
Hi, I don't have my eglu yet, but from reading the website and comparing to my old hutch I think it should be warm enough with some cosy bedding. I'm intending on leaving mine in the eglu over winter.
The Dogmother
Mine were plenty warm enough last winter, but the water bottle kept freezing solid Bunnies should be fine so long as they're not damp - I'd be worried about guineas though. Martin B
Lots of hay and sawdust would perhaps help a little! Fresh water daily!
The Dogmother
I always make sure that there's plenty of bedding in the Rablu, but they like to be out in the run - daft bunnies
tuffet
Have other people tried using snugglepet hotties in their hutch/rablu? Our bunnies are in a chilly garage during the winter and this is a good way of providing extra heat.
pepe
I have 2 snugglesafes! Have,nt used them much, as its been so mild, but mine do like them, I usually put them in their little dog bed (yes mine have a plastic dog bed,) they love to snuggle up in that, which I keep in the run, they dont sleep in the rablu. I dont shut them in at night so the doggy bed is perfect!
tuffet
Mine have a pet bed too! I got 2 when we adopted Tuffet as a friend for Buster, but they always snuggle up together in the one! We have 2 snugglepads which fit in just nicely. About the water - I have given up on the bottles, a pain to clean. Mine use a large bowl and it doesn't seem to freeze so easily. If you use a bottle inside the Eglu it shouldn't freeze tho should it? (and there is an insulating jacket for it I believe). Jan
The Dogmother
I used to have the water bottle in the rablu during the winter and found that it frequently froze solid. My grass is so squishy in the winter that I have the bunnies in their big wooden duplex hutch during the winter, that way they are warmer and drier too. Hockeyaholic
I think rablu's are fine over winter, it was something I was particularly concerned about last winter as we'd just got my 2 rabbits (as babies) and it was freezing! They're fine though, the bottle has never froze inside the rablu and the bunnies feel toasty warm when i get them out in the morning. I just make sure theres plenty of bedding and that its not damp inside.
