craftyhunnypie
I don't find that shocking - I find it cool & very sweet that they have ignored what everyone expects from weddings & done what they wanted! They have adapted what they both love (shrek) & themed their wedding around it. I like her little Shrek ears - like the red hair too! Good on them! A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I posted that Shrek link back on page 2 Egluntine. Brilliant wasn't it? Looked like they enjoyed themselves! But OH saw it today in the paper and balked. Funny, because he looks a bit ogrey! Craftyhunnypie - sounds awesome, your wedding. I don't want to go abroad though as I burn very easily. I know where I am with English sun. Slightly less burnt!
Egluntyne
Did you? I missed it. Good for them for doing what they wanted.
Looney
I agree, good for them for doing what they wanted. Just the thought of all that green make up makes me go though!

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Over 3,000 internet rings and all of Hatton Garden later, I've found an interesting ring dude: http://www.alanvallis-oxo.com/pages/Rings/Multi-Stone_stackers.html I'm thinking a stacking ring, so the wedding bands can be added in at the wedding, and we can get matching-ish wedding bands. I'm thinking the sort of beaten, not too bright goldy or gold andd white gold finishes. I'm thinking possibly tsavorite rather than emerald because the green is nice, and peridot and something white. Like this: but a bit jiggled in terms of finish and ring patterns, and definitely green. What do you reckon? And I quite like bits of these and may like to incorporate bits and bobs from them: And this is tsavorite: http://www.gemstone.org/gem-by-gem/english/tsavorite.html
katieadams
I like it - never seen anything quite like that before, definitely original and very pretty. Would different metals be ok without rubbing each other? I suppose a nice fitting stacked ring might be ok, just I know my grandma's wedding ring wore away to near nothing because her engagement ring was a harder gold xxxx
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Think I'll have to go and have a consult with him. He sounds experienced and should know about metal hardness and all that. I'm just hoping it will solve my dilemma of what stones to have an not liking conventional rings. Can't decide? Have them all! Seagazer
Ooh I really like no 1 and no 4. And the tsavorite is a really gorgeous gemstone.
PurpleTree
I've been married 7 years, and still haven't got my own engagement ring. My mum gave me hers as I couldn't find one I liked and could afford, she didn't wear it anymore as it was too small. We bought fab wedding rings instead. Mine's white gold and 18ct yellow gold with a small diamond set into it, it was a matt finish when it was new but it's gone a bit shiny now. Hubby's is similar but without the diamond. Just found it on their website http://www.christophergeorgejewellers.co.uk/home.html I've told hubby he's got to buy me an eternity ring instead - if I find one I like! Minnie the Moocher
Like the stacking rings. Also liked the demantoids on that site: http://www.gemstone.org/gem-by-gem/english/demantoid.html I'm sure whatever you go for it will be perfect. They're very wooh and wow, Purple. Lovely mixed metals and stones and things. I'm really excited about meeting up with this Alan ringmaker fella. I'm loving the idea of something bespoke. But as for perfect Minnie, I'm so dang fussy! I won't be convinced til it's on my finger!

I wanted a wedding ring that was a bit different, and would look nice on its own, as I wasn't planning on wearing my engagement ring all the time, and as I said it wasn't one I chose although I am grateful to my mum for giving it to me (as was hubby's wallet!). I now wear my engagement ring on my right hand most of the time.
Minnie the Moocher
My OH designed my engagement ring and had it made in secret. Thankfully he has good taste and it's gorgeous!

Minnie the Moocher
It's such a simple ring I could describe it very easily! It is a square diamond in a white gold rubover setting set at 45 degrees to the band. He also had the wedding ring made so they nestle together. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Found a tiny chapel - holds half a dozen people tops - in Suffolk. Booked it, and the registrar, for late September. Gulp! Eek! Yay! And have also commissioned this lovely lady: http://www.the-hermitage.org.uk/ to make me a wooden pendant. Think I'm going for forest green in the dress and think she'll be able to come up with something rustic and lovely. She's a neo-Gypsy. Tours the UK in a converted horsebox that looks like a trad Romany caravan. She's very talented and a real darling. Got to get the engagement ring now sharpish. Doing things a bit wonky! Guest
it sounds so...ethereal. Not quite the right word I'm looking for but you know what I mean Are you going to have some celtic music playing? I have some Capercaillie CDs if you want to borrow one (or I can send you a copy ). Or maybe some Secret Garden? I have Secret Garden's CD, this was the track I had played when I walked down the aisle, it's called 'Celebration' I timed it so I walked in just as the drums got louder (2 mins 4 secs into this video), it was magical! A chickychickychick-ENN!!
It'll probably be more humdrum than ethereal knowing me! Turning up in our mini metro, me a little bit medieval, him tbc clotheswise! It's not exactly Clannad-tastic, is it?! Not sure about tunes. That's pretty, the song you had. I've got lots of folky albums, so I'll have a trawl through them and see what we fancy. Feel more organised now I've got half the basics booked. How people do this for 50-200 people I don't know! Too much stress for that many! Those who have done it, I salute you!
