Fabulous! Saw Paul Young when he was with The Q Tips at South Bank Polytechnic as it was then. Then when he went solo we saw him at the old Wembley. Ooh seriously tempted

Sorry Clash but Im a big 80's fan. I thought Spandau were great on JR's show. I sat on my hands when the tickets came out as the price was a bit

Dosent usually stop me but I was a very good girl and resisted the temptation plus I have already bought tickets to see the Pet Shop Boys

I loved them in the 80s but it was all a bit too cheesy for me on the Jonathan Ross show. Since watching Reborn in the USA I have REALLY gone off Tony Hadley. I don't know what it is but I find him really creepy *shudder*

Well sure, but it was also a decade of great music, & as most of us here are of a similar age I for one was focused on that,setting up home with my man & generally having a whale if a time.

 

My memories of the '80's are based on what I enjoyed then,not the bad stuff.

I think a lot of us on here are of an age where we were teenagers or a little older during the 80's therefore we were pretty wrapped up in what made us feel good. The music was good the politics was bad, I didn't care much for politics back then and we can still do little about it today

Simon Weston was a casualty of the Falklands. He was a soldier who was on the ship Sir Galahad in Bluff Cove in the Falklands when it was attacked and destroyed by the Argentines. 48 men were killed. Simon survived but was badly burned, including his face, and has had a lot of surgery. He is a now a broadcaster, motivational speaker, charity founder and all that sort of thing. He is a fine and "Ooops, word censored!"le human being.

 

The 70's had its share of problems - strikes, three day weeks, power cuts, unemployment, Northern Ireland, over-crowded and under-funded schools. But I'm probably with Clash on the music question - I prefer the late 70's to the early 80's. Spandau, Duran, Culture Club, etc. never did it for me (nor Howard Jones, remember him? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/8022614.stm ). My favourite band of that time is probably The Smiths, but I wasn't really paying that much attention to music. I'd finished university and was trying to find a job.
