We've got names lined up for the 4 ex-batts. But how will I be able to tell who is who?

It doesnt take long for you to tell them apart but if you are worried you could get some leg rings in different colours, ebay sell mixed packs or Ascott (on line) sell them individually for pence

They will look very different. Study their feathering and make a little note of which features

(or lack of) you have ascribed to each name......or get some leg rings as Redwing says.

You could also look at the combs as ours all seem to be different????

I can tell the difference between my girls quite easily, same with our same breed rats

 

Lady Lay is the Louder but more submissive chook

 

Orakiah is the quieter one (she also has a smaller comb)

 

and like Redwing said...you can always get some different colour leg rings

Well done for getting ex bats, I worried that I wouldn't know who was who but they are surprisingly different both in looks and in character, believe me you'll know!!

As you've seen from my lot, even the ginger jobs vary quite a lot and their personalities are so different, you won't have a problem!!

All ours have coloured leg rings. Everyone has a different colour or combination of colours. We've always done that we ours. But you do get to know them all wuite quickly.

Another thing is different coloured feet. Some might have yellow & others grey. This is mainly how we told our chickens apart first of all

We only had two, but I could tell them apart instantly! Also, you learn their voices with time too, and you start knowing which one is squawking!! I think leg rings would be an ace idea from the start though, you'd not get it wrong then!
