feemcg
I was wondering if its normal for the chickens colouring to change/alter as they get older. When I got Beauty she was black with a white 'collar' and a few specks of white on her chest - now she has loads of white extending right down her chest and under her tummy and on her wings. The farmer I got her from said she was a black 'link' but I'm not exactly sure what that means (I know...I should have asked!) Is the colour change normal? Budgies
I've no experience of it myself, Fee, but I believe Martin Gurdon in his "Hen and the Art of Chicken Maintenance" refers to a black chook that became white as it aged, then partially moulted and went back to some black!! Quite sweet, really!! Sue Budgie x
chocchick
Su used to be almost white with one dark feather (which Beth used to peck at). She's now got more obvious amber spodges all over her back.
The Dogmother
Mine have changed subtly too. They're all moulting again, so one morning I'll go outside to find completely different chooks
