Help post vet advice SAD NEWS

Recommended Posts

Just got back from the vet with piri piri and she seems worse than when we went.

This morning she laid an egg with blood on it but looked fine, when I checked her out she had a bit of a pooey bum but nothing else.

Later I went to give her a bath but her vent looked swollen and feathers were missing.

Took her to the vet who gave her a good prodding and pushed some stuff back in that was showing. Also she gave her an injection for the pain.

After we got back gave her a bit of time freeranging but after about hour they both just sat in the corner of the garden not moving. Gave them some porridge to perk them up a bit and half way through there was an almighty din.

Piri Piri was practically crowing and sounding distressed and then did a little poo, but then started again, put her back in the cat basket in the kitchen but then they both started as they are inseperable and now they are both in the kitchen to stop them squalking think Sweet Chili is just making a din because of the other one.

Should I keep them in the kitchen all night or put them back in the cube?

Having issues with morning noise and neighbours anyway so what is for the best. :(

Got to work tomorrow and the 24hr vet charges £115 for a consult should I just keep them in the kitchen

help :(

oh sorry to hear about this what a shame but dont beat yourself up as you did go to the vet. Birds are quite hard to diagnose & treat sometimes, fortunately it was quick and at least the vet did try for her as did you.

I think sometimes people think the vets not interested in a chicken but it is hard for them to fathom them out to diagnose etc

indie :(

oh I'm so sorry :( I know you probably don't want to think about it but don't wait too long before getting a cple of new chickens to keep your lonely girl company.
