Hi everyone,

I currently have (green eglu) + GNR(Bluebelle)(white chicken) which I love. However, I am now becoming chicken obsessed and am thinking about upgrading to a cube when finances permit (which could be quite a while!). Will probably expand flock to 4 so that can still use eglu for holidays/ take round to relatives.

Anyway just interested in what people's views are on relative merits of eglu v cube - ease of use/ cleaning out/ pleasant chickeny environment. Also slightly worried that if I get a cube I will then be pursuading OH that we need extension and lots more GNR !

Any comments welcome.

Hi

I never had an eglu got a cube first off....but I am glad i dont have to bend down to clean the trays out, so I would have put an eglu on a table if I had got one of those. I like the cube as I think they have more room for air circulation and to move about(although I think they must all suddenly drop off to sleep once in as I dont hear a murmer)!

I will be interested to see in the colder months if they spend more time indoors as they rarely go inside the cube only to lay.

So having said all the above I dont think its a big deal unless you are going to keep tons of chickens(I only have 5 and they all lay in the same little nest in teh hemcore that they make..same spot..not the whole nesting area in the cube is used up)....

So perhaps add another eglu...

Even though I got a cube I still may invest in an eglu at some stage... all great products

probably not much help
