Oh Carolina
Hi I just got my eglu, and I am looking to find a couple of Silkie chickens to put in it! Can anyone recommend a good breeder? I'm in Oxfordshire, if that helps. BTW, I'm also looking for Orpingtons - so any suggestions there would also be great! Caroline

Griffin
They've got loads of different breeds, chicks being born all the time as they're struggling to cope with the demand

Oh Carolina
Thanks so much Griffin! I went to Seven Acres Nursery yesterday (it was tricky to find, but if anyone else is hunting for it it's on the A417 in Stanford on the Vale). The owner, Tony was there to give advice and he really was so very helpful. He spent ages with me talking about the different breeds of chicken. They have POL Goldlines available immediately and all other breeds they have as chicks. They have white and black Silkies (bantams), Pekins in many colours (the lavender are particularly lovely!), Wyandottes and Cream Legbars. There were also Poland chicks and Poland Frizzle chicks there but they are not yet available. There were many other chicken breeds but I can't remember them all! There were also Aylesbury Ducks available and Indian Runner Ducks can be seen there in about three weeks, Tony the owner said (but none available until they start breeding them). One thing to mention - Tony said they do not vaccinate their chickens, as they feel they give them a very healthy life anyway, so if you do want your chickens vaccinated and buy them from Seven Acres, you will need to do this yourself.
