Janty
We won't be ready for ours for a while but at least Tony's deposit cheque is written and ready to be sent off tomorrow.
Goff
Mark as amost finished building ours! It cost us £140 to build from scratch. We already had the corrugated roofing so we saved on that. The aviary mesh needs fitting and the door putting on then its done!

Is there any chance you could save up for a 'Tony' run? Maybe you could explain to family that you are saving up for a run and they could give you some money for Christmas. My Dad just asks now what the latest chicken thing we want is and then he contributes towards it.
Lewis
The original plan was to get a Tony run, but I have to pay for all the animals stuff and thought we could make one for cheaper, I'm learning to drive so it'd be a WIR or a car It would be a lot easier to get a Tony run and I have a big birthday near Christmas so can ask for money Grandad used to be a carpenter/modelmaker which is always handy so we've planned it all out, but it all stopped when Dad slipped 3 disks. There's just a 'disagreement' as to which side of the garden its going because Dad likes 'his garden'.

Lewis
Wow! I've seen a caravan converted for chickens, but not a car! *wonders off wandering where to get a Morris Traveller*
Plum
Now you take me back. My mums ducks used to sleep in the back of the old half timbered Morris Traveller I don't think it ever went anywhere afterwards
Janty
What about converting an old mini? That would be super cool! It could be a mini chicken coop-er.
Olly
It could be a mini chicken coop-er. Boom! Boom! I've got the day off today. As soon as I'm dressed I'm going to go up the garden and measure the potential chicken-place AGAIN very carefully. And then I'm going to email Tony with my order ... I think a WIR would be an ideal Big Birthday present Lewis, personally I always find young men quite difficult to buy presents for, there are only so many cuff-links and tankards you can use after all! Olly
At last (after months of dithering) my run is ordered! This weekend is the only chance I'll have to sort out the area where it's going and lay the slabs. Then I need to purchase a for them to sleep in. I am very eggcited! Olly
What an excuse to buy a purple eglu. Well the is going to go, eventually, and that will near enough pay for the run. I have loved the Cube but it is not as funky as the Eglu. I decided that the size of the run and my other commitments mean I'm really not likely to have more than 5 chickens at any time, and on that basis I may as well go back to an Eglu which will be inside the run, and they can all squeeze in and snuggle up together. ANH, I have asked for a stable-type door, thanks for that brilliant idea of yours! It won't be quite the same as yours, but it means I can open the top half and chuck treats in etc without letting them all out. If I work it right, I should be able to fill up the Glub and Grub this way too, I hope - it may mean hanging them up high, and giving the girls something to perch on while they feed. Just paid my deposit. Now I need to ring Omlet to find out how much an Eglu on its own costs!

atsw
Now I need to ring Omlet to find out how much an Eglu on its own costs! An Eglu on it's own, no run, no feeders, is £235. That's what I paid last month when I added a second Eglu to my WIR. I collected mine in person, so no additional delivery charge, otherwise it would have been about £20 extra I think.
