My first hatch day is tomorrow and I'm getting very excited . No sign yet but I did set my eggs late in the day.

nothing yet. There was no piping when i last looked. Liv(the broody lavendar pekin) is still very busy turning them though.

 

I don't think that I'll sleep well tonight and I've got the school run to do . I don't think that I'll be attending mother and toddler group tomorrow morning either.

Hi - we got a chick one day 20, then 2 on day 22 , on day 24 she rolled the existing eggs out of the nest. Don't give up yet!

Don't give up yet. As the eggs are under a broody, she'll know if it's worth keeping going or time to give up. Any chance you could extract an egg tonight and do a quick candle test?

Yes I could but I think that I'm going to trust her. She keeps turning and looking at her eggs a lot today. She kicked two infertile ones last week so she seems to know what she is doing.

The weather has cooled down quite a bit over the last couple of days which could have slowed down the hatch by a day or two.

She sounds like shes being a good mom.

My Marlene was very busy at hatch time - head down & bobbing around all the time - very vety busy she was - so I don't think your chicks will be long. Hang on in there!

Oh, great news, that's wonderful. The chick could still be inside the egg, so you might have another 24hrs to wait. As hard as I'm sure it is, you need to let nature take its course, your Hen will know exactly what to do, just leave her to it.
