Cinnamon
Ocado for me - if you are tying Waitrose online, then thats NOT Ocado They are just brilliant - everything is wonderfully frsh, they are never late & the drivers are very nice indeed. The site is a piece of cake to use, the search facility is good & it all gets even easier once you have placed a couple of orders. I would give them a go if I were you
bluekarin
I use the internet to buy just about anything so this week thought why not try doing our food shopping online, i have a collection of old receipts i can check that i haven't fogot anything from.....easy! It is driving me mad! For the last 2 days i have spent at least an hour at the computer making my way through the ridiculous system that is Waitrose online....i now admit defeat and think i am going to have to go and do the shopping the 'good old fashioned way' after work one day this week...i could have done it in the time i have been messing about trying to find everything online!! Does anyone actually get on with online food shopping, i just don't think i have the patience to mess about with it! I feel your pain! I tried a few months ago to do it, and after several waste dhours gave up. I like to think I am computer and tinternet savvy, but that proved I am not. I will have another go, one day, when the stars are aligned
*mummy_hen*
I have never heard of Ocado before... the only problem i have with food shopping is that we will only buy foods made with free range egss and unless i shop somewhere like waitrose, M&S or the like this is very hard to do!! We completely boycot tesco's and refuse to spend any money on any of their products, not just food as i really don't agree with their food ethics. Am determined to get this finished tonight though....it will be such a sense of achievement when the delivery arrives!!! Will have a look at Ocado though....is it a store or a brand? Guest
oh I think I mean Ocado but is it not waitrose too?? my sister tried to get me to use Ocado After being at work today I could do with a home delivery now, I need to go to the dreaded Tesco(not a fan try to avoid) but I just dont get on with the on line shopping list..OK I will have another go tonight as my sister swears by Ocado ...I will have another go. Promise and will time myself speak soon indie

I use the Ocado website but its Waitrose shopping......... had a little browse on the internet and I have found that they are two different sites and companies!! I learn something new every day - I also now have a new website to try out Thanks Cinnamon!!! x
Yorkshire Pudding
It supplies Waitrose products but is not the same company. Ocado don't have shops, only home delivery service, so it HAS to be good to keep them in business. Another reason I like it is NO eggs from caged hens are used in any of their products - free range only. In any other supermarket I have to read all the labels for that, with Ocado it's a given. Also all poultry meat is at least higher welfare if not free range, and there is a really good choice of free range meat products, poultry, pork etc. And their carriers are biodegradable and colour coded for cupboard, freezer and fridge, and they take them away every time they deliver if you hand them back. Bit of a fan here!
Guest
Hi I have just ordered Ocado for the first time..I must be dopey I found it easier to search for items ...I even have ended up buying Good housekeeping(no hope at all) and a kitchen magazine(have no idea why..I already have one of those) I only got these to bring it up to the £2.99 delivery! Mind you I would have spent a lot more in the other supermarkets picking items up. But I am still going to my local farm shop for veg and unfortunately spoilt Cocker dog likes Tesco cheap own brand chicken and rubbish dog food too. But apart from not having any salmon steaks(will check before Thursday) I really like the recipe page so in future who knows may surprise the family(poor things). Know what is meant by seeing all those poor chickens in the bbq area of the stores, appalling I bet they had a really sad existence(I am planning on going on one of those learn how to etc etc a chicken....) Thanks for the tips will I now get lots of vouchers ??? it wasnt that bad at all...phew indie
abwsco
Indie, I've cut down on my shopping bill my shopping at Ocado. It does also get quicker with time and you get reminders on products that you've bought before but may be running low on eg dishwasher powder. *mummy_hen*
Have just had a look at the Ocado site and think i will give it a go...are you all sure that any products i buy will use free range egg? This does mean the shopping list i started on waitrose 3 days ago now becomes void as i need to start again on here It better be worth it or you guys are to blame
redfrock
I love Ocado and the delivery drivers are amazing. However I have just one gripe - they keep putting the chemical products in with the food. I have raised it with them 3 times now only to find leaking toilet cleaner in with my fresh bread this weekend . It is such a dangerous practice. All I got back was a standard reply that I had seen twice before. I did advise them of this but they haven't replied. I am now in 2 minds whether to continue shopping with them. Generally though they are very good and the quality of their food is excellent.

This does mean the shopping list i started on waitrose 3 days ago now becomes void as i need to start again on here It better be worth it or you guys are to blame honestly if I can do it anyone can! I did find it easier to search items ie by brand which I hadnt been doing before. Also I think its a bit more for some items but they do have comparable pricing with T company. I do use my local old fashioned Butcher and the local farm shop to keep the high street up and running. But where I probably save is not buying one get five free etc offers. I can go in for milk and £80 later.....expensive Let us know how you get on , cant believe I am on line talking about shopping
Ygerna
I will give it another try I was on there for about 2 hours and hadnt spent enough as I couldnt find things easily, I thought I wasnt posh enough as half the brands I didnt know(I am probably not posh enough).. I will give it another go they keep sending me vouchers..but I just gave up If I ever want to make sure I keep my delivery slot, but, dont have enough in my basket at that moment in time. I just add something like a bottle of the most expensice champagne to take me over the minimum order limit. Then, when I go back to finish my shopping, I add the rest of the items I need, then (and this is the MOST important bit), take the champagne out of my trolly
*mummy_hen*
Well.....finally....i have placed my first order with Ocado!! Has been a stressful experience i must say I must admit without your encouragement i would not have persevered....although it did save me about £50 on my normal supermarket shop Hoping next time i use it will be a lot quicker
Guest
Mines coming along via Ocado on Wednesday evening so will let you know how I get on... most people cant find our house and I usually tell them to wait at the pub!!!! Wonder how they will get on...at the pub ps when they wait at the pub I have to go to find them ..if any excuse was needed
Cinnamon
Another great thing with Ocado is the free Times you get with your delivery, plus the little extra samples they sometimes bung in. You will also get special free delivery days, discounts & I am sure you already noticed the green van delivery slots which mean the van is already in your area so uses less petrol

Yes got the free Times just read that this is routine, I also got a small bar of green and blacks and next time a bottle of plonk if I spend over £40(am sure I can manage that) very impressed it all looks superb quality food. I felt very guilty putting the chicken in the freezer(all I can see is my chickens faces everytime I go to the supermarket now...I am getting soft) But it is free range so that is good..but small! Anyhow back to the shop am going to use again and the poor driver did get lost but is going to make a note for other drivers. He was so nice I helped him bring it all in. Thanks for the recommendation, I am now stocked up with lots of chocolate & good housekeeping that I am not sure when I am going to get to read this indie
nicola01202
Oh absolutely stick with it but the Waitrose website is notoriously poorly designed. I ALWAYS use Ocado and because they ONLY do online shopping you get an instant stock check and very rarely get substitutions. I think they have variable delivery charges depending on when you want it delivered but they also have a membership system where you can pay a monthly subscription and get unlimited deliveries free (subject to a minimum order value of £40) This takes all the hassle out of online shopping - I've got 3 boys so its no bother getting a food order of £40 together particularly if hubby wants some beer! (and with 3 boys why wouldn't he!) I don't have to worry about whether I've forgotten anything because we'll be having another delivery in a couple of days anyway .... They have a list function where you just type in a list of items and then scroll through them - it even recognises loo roll. Nik

The Dogmother
I was delighted with my Ocado delivery on Tuesday - due to arrive 7.30-8.30pm, man rang at 7pm to say that his van had broken down, so ETA was now 9pm if that was convenient, said he would call again if it was any different. He pitched up at 8.15pm, they'd sent another van out to swap his load into as his van was beyond repair. He and this other driver were whizzing around the calls, so had been able to deliver to me within the original time slot anyway
jlo
I am normally very pleased with Ocado and have subscribed to their delivery deal which makes me use it more often. I was slightly miffed today however that the driver didn't point out a substitution. I wouldn't have minded but it was one that I had ordered specially for my mum so did not want the alternative.
