... gooseberries! It's been a constant battle against the caterpillars ever since I got my little fruit bush, but the almost daily inspections have paid off this year. And I thought gooseberries would be easy to grow!!

In a village called Goostery, not too far from me - they have a Goosefest. Judging of the best gooseberries!!! They are put in little boxes & everything!

We used some of ours in an ice cream flavoured with elderflowers

 

We have lost all of the leaves on our Jostaberry which is a gooseberry blackcurrant cross and our redcurrant bushes in the garden at home to the sawfly , but the ones at the allotment have never been touched and we have 3 huge gooseberry bushes there.

 

We thought that we had squashed all the caterpillars earlier in the year but we turned our backs and there has obviously been a second coming
