KarenW
...till we get the chickens! I've been trying to forget about it as much as I can as I was getting a bit over-excited and was already boring people with chicken-talk We've been busy getting ready - have concreted under the gate so that they don't attempt to dig under and now just need to attach the extra wood to the bottom of the gate to fill the remaining gap (does anyone know what size of hole they can't get through - as we would like to leave room for our visiting hedgehog if possible? Ta!) Have cleared their area, but my dh won't put in the edging till the eglu gets here, cos he doesn't trust my calculations and we didn't just want to do a big rectanglular area, we want it a bit more shaped so are waiting till we can mark out around the eglu. Could do with getting something to store a small supply of food in outside, next to their run, but that's not urgent and that's about it I think! Very excited
Redwing
Sounds like you have it all planned! hens can get through quite small holes as one Omleteer recently found out when she had her netting upside down and the hens walked cleanly through the larger squares! On Omlet netting the hens can go through the big squares but not the small ones so I will go and have a measure for you! back in a mo

Redwing
ok, the big holes are 6 inches square and the small ones 3 inches square
KarenW
Ok brill, thanks for measuring! We have a small gap in the middle that we couldn't decide whether to fix an extra bit of wood to or not, so I'll measure it and see. Knowing my luck it will be exactly halfway inbetween and I still won't know
