How come do most cats have the Letter M on their heads?

 

 

Most cats i've seen (most colours except black) i've seen M on the heads

It's just part of the tabby markings Raina.

 

Lots of cats have some tabby blood in them, which is why it's so common. they also have 3 lines running down their backs and swirls like a swiss roll on each side. There are lots of variations on the tabby markings though.

All of the maus have it, and the bengals too, even silly fluffy dilly the maine coon has it, it's just hard to see because of her silly fluffy fur

My sister thought the M meant Moggie lol

We always say the M on our Ginger Tabby stands for......Mouser!

The "M" on ours stands for Minx. Tilly is the original Minx. Daisy is the Mini Minx and Alfie is Baby Minx

I've never thought about it as an M before.

apparently the 'legend' says it is the mark of the madonna.....

 

When Jesus was born in the stable, they could not get him to sleep that first night. All the animals tried to soothe him to sleep with no success. The final animal to try was the cat, who jumped in his cradle and soothed his cries with her purring. Mary was so tired and grateful she kissed the cat on the head, leaving the M mark for evermore.

Genetically all cats will revert to tabby markings if left to breed willy nilly, if they are one colour then the stripes are just in the same colour. Even black cats in the right light have the M. I love making the fur go the wrong way on my cats foreheads and making it stand upright, they put up with it for so long, and then stalk off .
