Headchicken
For those that have gone through this stage, can you describe crouching to me? I could have sworn one of my girls crouched when I tried to pick her up today (Dax). I can never catch her, but she just stood still and bent down a little, and spread her wings a bit. I picked her up and loved her a little and put her back. They'll be 20 wks tomorrow and most of them are getting nice red combs and wattles, so I think we're working toward eggs! Chickvic
You've described crouching just fine, they usually stamp their feet as well. The trick is then not to fall over them when they suddenly crouch in front of you Shouldn't be too much longer for those eggs
Space Chick
Perfect description of crouching Eggs for you in less than a fortnight
Hen Watch
That's definately crouching you've got going on there. They sort of "freeze" like they are cowering and afraid. Really handy when you want to pick them up.
The Dogmother
That'll be it! Some people refer to it as lap dancing!
WarrensWorld
Violet and Fern have already gone through this stage, and are now in eggy mode. Heather started to crouch 3 days ago, but Alice........ well she's a wonder. Not too much longer now we hope.

Headchicken
Do they do it every time you approach? She did it once this morning, but ran away the rest of the time.
The Dogmother
Some of mine have far too much dignity to ever involve themselves in something like that.
