The Dogmother
She looks stunning Sarah everything is right and that dress flatters her - modest and a superb colour. Gave me a prickly eye moment. At least she takes after her Mum, eh?
Cinnamon
At least she takes after her Mum, eh? I wish I was a size 10 again!!! You should have seen some of the young ladies there Clare - their dresses were so skimpy & so tight,& the heels so high that I don't know how their parents le them out looking like that I do wish Devon would have let me do something with her hair, put it up or put some bling in it,rather than just have it the same as any other day. Still, I guess she felt comfortable with it,so thats the most important thing
The Dogmother
I will have to show the picture to Rosie tonight - she's a long way off prom dresses, but likes to look at pretty ones. Thankfully, she also prefers something modest. Her hair looks lovely Sarah. I could never 'do hair-up' when I had waist length hair, but a friend of mine does the most wonderful wedding and evening hairdos. Liz, nowt wrong with arriving in a Berlingo! ubereglu
Liz, nowt wrong with arriving in a Berlingo! I knew you'd say that! Well I didn't want to get in all the fuss and "Ooops, word censored!"yness of some of my friends about the limo they were taking, and I didn't really see the point in spending loads of money. The Dogmother
TBh, I don't understand the amount of money spent and fuss made - you can still have the fun and look lovely without going overboard. i don't remember proms in my day - is it a recent US import? ubereglu
I think so. We haven't gone overboard in terms of money. I think it's so far cost us £27 for dress, shoes, bag and hair accessories.
Egluntyne
A friend of mine who is a Head of Department at a local comprehensive school says that the Proms can cause real problems for some lower income families, who want give their child a huge send of so that they don't feel left out, and in a couple of instances it has come to her attention that they are getting into debt with loan sharks as a result. What a pity. My daughter left school at the beginning of this trend and it was a much more low key affair. At least with the boys, all they needed and wanted was to borrow a Tux.
