Egg Lou
Cream Legbar Boy.. from this... to this..loves to join us indoors and thinks the sofa is his personal perch! Gold Brahma.. not sure if girl or boy but very upright .. what do you think? 1 Day 3 weeks Black Silkies.. really hoping girls but no way of knowing and 1 is squaring up 3 weeks Partridge Silkie - again no idea but very vocal and has been seen to square up to on eof the black silkies And this one is a mystery! Was supposed to be a Speckled Sussex but hatched yellow so opinion here was that it must be a light sussex or similar.. well its now growing speckled feathers so looking like a speckled after all however very upright and showing signs of wattles on the way Your thoughts?? So looks like a could have a collection of lads...just hope a couple of the Silkies are girls Although wish I could keep the legbar boy as a real pet bless him.. always comes over and loves being indoors with us.. Redwing
No idea on which are boys but lots of up-rightness as you say however maybe they were curious of the camera? That Cream Legbar boy is to die for, what a darling
Egg Lou
No idea on which are boys but lots of up-rightness as you say however maybe they were curious of the camera? That Cream Legbar boy is to die for, what a darling I know he's so gorgeous! If I didn't have neighbours I wouldn't part with him as so people friendly but as it is he'll have to go back to the breeder. He had an accident at 10 days old and cut the back of his neck badly on the cube run so was in everyday to get wound cleaned and dressed and its become a habit he settles straight down on the sofa watches TV and then and falls asleep A real poppet! Egluntyne
Could be all boys. I hope you have got a big freezer. I remain unconvinced that you have a Speckled Sussex there . It has looked nothing like mine, from the off. Sorry.

mrsallen08
How cute is your legbar boy! Quite a lot of headgear as well for saying they are so young! eeek! Silkies are hard to sex though so hopefully you may have some girlies there!
Griffin
I've learnt how to sex Brahmas by their neck feathers. If when they appear on the base of the neck & shoulders if they have lacing they're girls, boys get darker feathers there.

It has looked nothing like mine, from the off. Sorry. I'm a vege so won't bein my freezer, however I arranged for any unwanted boys to back to the breeder as either breeding stock or dinner depending on quality.. he is very keen on a male Brahma for a new breeding pen and looking like that might be the case Hmm .. still no idea what the 'sussex' is then! did think the colour was going back that way but who knows as agree nothing like yours, or anyone elses for that matter a real mystery but either way this looks like another little lad! feemcg
This is my Speckled Sussex at hatch (yellow chick) and 3 weeks. The girls have a lot of white on the breast when the feathers start to grow in, and girls feather up a bit quicker. It looks like a Speckled Sussex to me....but a boy I think. Oh thank you! it looks exactly like yours so must be a speckled, even got the dark spots on head today.. thought I was going a bit mad there as collected the egg from the speckled pen myself Yes also think a boy as very pale chick, upright and just seems to act bold and boyish def back to breeder then! feemcg
Shame if it is a boy.....if it's any consolation mine didnt lay an egg till she was a year old, laid a couple then prolapsed badly and was put to sleep. I spoke to someone else who had exactly the same thing with hers.......prob a coincidence but you never know.
Valkyrie
They're still lovely whatever they all turn out to be. I think the cream legbar looks like my grandad (he was bald, but had hair round the back of his head)! Perhaps he'll never make a noise? That would be nice for you both. Lets hope he gets permanent laryngitis!

Oh that means our other quiet friendly one.. the small black silkie.. could be a boy too although on a good note I think the Brahma may now be a girl as laced chest feathers and not joining in the boys 's"Ooops, word censored!"ping' sessions.. so fingers crossed
