Now We Want Sheep! *Pics of our sheep!*

Recommended Posts

I love those Kune Kune pigs, they are so 8) We saw them at the Royal and they were fluffy :D The field has a pig pen and ark but we need to get to grips with the sheep first

The sheep we reserved today is a Shetland, she is so very sweet, friendly and gentle. We are going back to choose one or two others in a few days.

We are off to see the delinquent sheep tomorrow, poor owner is desperate to rehome them as they are causing chaos and are really noisy but we have to be sensible and have agreed that if they are unhealthy or crackers they will not be right for first time owners

If we get the two sheep needing rehoming we will have four sheep, if we don't we will buy one more to go with the Shetlands and have three sheep :D

yes they are ewe lambs, suffolk crosses by the looks of them, very oretty black heads and legs

The sheep are living in an urban semi garden with a pig, ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens and a small puppy  goodness knows what the neighbour thinks of it all

The sheep were lovely but the chap ummed and ahhed over the price mentioning that he had been offered lots of money by people wanting them for meat but he wants them to go to a pet home and not for meat. We told him they werent worrth that to us as we could buy pedigrees for that money and he was a bit unimpressed, we would also need to transport them so thats money on top

When we asked about his CPH registration he was evasive and was a bit unsure about the paperwork needed to move the sheep so we have decided that although we didnt want to leave the sheep in that environment we cant take the risk of some bodged transaction

So its off to the Sheltalnd breeder again on Thursday to pick out two more sheep :D

Sounds like you made the best choice Tasha. It is a shame to leave them there but if he was evasive regarding the paperwork then I would of chosen the same.

Are you still on hols or are you trying to sort all this whilst at work........mutli-tasking at it's best!

I suspected as much

Good that you walked away; was your radar pinging?

It was, all the animals and birds were well cared for and seemed quite happy but although I do know Prudence and sometimes ignore her I don't think this family had ever heard of her :wink:

I did feel really bad driving away knowing that we would not be able to help the sheep though :(

And yes Em, I am multitasking during my work lunch time

Good move Tasha - if they want them to move off their property then they are going to have to apply for a CPH number. It doesn't take long but you are right not to take them for that reason.

They could have that sorted in a couple of days if they do decide to sell them. If they do pester you to take them, then point them in that direction.

Another case of someone doing no, or little, research before taking on a whole menagerie

I remember some time ago that a family turned their garden into a mini farm. I think it was in Norfolk - somewhere in East Anglia. They had sheep in a little pen a the end of the garden, lots of rabbits. It wasn't a big garden either. Heavily into the good life on a mini scale with spinning the wool, the tiny front garden was done chequerboard style with the veg and I think they had an allotment for growing wheat and animal food. They moved to Normandy (I think it was - somewhere in France anyway). I gather that was because someone complained - not their close neighbours who apparently loved the mini farm, but someone further away. I think it was the sheep that was the final straw for someone. Anyone else remember that? Sounds as though these folks were trying to do the same thing.
