ross81
I have movement in most eggs but none have hatched or even piped, as far as i can see. I have double checked my dates and they are correct and i stoped turning them on day 15 (all Bantams). I candled the eggs before stoping turning and increasing the humidity and all seemed to be healthy. Should i be worried or will it all be ok just need to leave a bit longer? Thanks Edited July 14, 2009 by Guest
Redwing
I have been reading about quite a few late hatches recently, apparently the recent weather has played havoc with hatching dates My own recent hatch was late, not only did I forget that the first day should count as day 0 they were also late beyond that! Did you count the first day as 0? Don't panic, I dare say they will make an appearance when they feel like it Good luck
ross81
Thanks Tasha I counted the first day as day 0 which is why im a bit worried. There seems to be plenty of rocking just no hatching
Lewis
There seems to be plenty of rocking just no hatching Hopefully they'll be out tomorrow. Rocking sounds promising. Is the humidity up?

ross81
Still nothing. What could have went wrong? I am using a r-com suro i set the temp to 37.5 and humidity to 50% then increased to 65% rh they seemed fine at day 15 im a bit worried now as i did stop turning at day 15 so they have been sitting for 4 days now. atsw
If they are still moving around, that's a good sign. Pick up one of the eggs that's moving and put it to your ear, you should hear tweeting or tapping. Might be worth candling again, it won't do any harm to the chicks or disrupt the hatching process. Goof luck, Andrew
tidygirlsuk
Mine were 2 to 3 days late and that was under a broody. I hope that you get your chicks soon.
craftyhunnypie
I treat my bantam eggs the same as normal eggs. What I mean is I don't stop turning them until day 18. It's an automatic incubator. They do rock like mad as soon as I stop turning & pip later that day or day 19. It's not a law that they will hatch on day 19. Some go the full 21 days, even 22 days. I'm worried you may have stopped turning too early & they are struggling to get out? Emma.x
ross81
Hi Emma Probably. I did think about turning longer but didn't want to keep them turning after reading that they should be stoped at day 15. I also wasn't sure if it would cause a problem to over turn. I will keep turning the next time til day 18 if it doesn't cause a problem. I haven't candled them again i will leave to see.
craftyhunnypie
Good luck. Let us know of any progress. They might even pip later. You see a tiny crack, then a sort of V shape, then that lifts as if its pulsing ( chick tapping it open). Then hopefully they saw round to make a flip top lid & ooze themselves out. Hope this makes sense. Oh I really hope you get some chickies! Emma.x
