ubereglu
The blanket Mum, me and Vikki jointly made has finally been finished today! It's taken us roughly 6 and a half months to make it and is roughly 7'x5' (when counting the edging!). Here's a picture...I think it gets brighter as you go down it and as I did more revision! What do you all think? Edited: To add picture again...22/07 Edited July 22, 2009 by Guest

craftyhunnypie
Oh wow - that is stunning! I can't do patchwork - but could manage to knit squares like that. That is brilliant! Emma.x
ubereglu
For a blanket that size you need to knit 96 six inch squares and then stitch them altogether and edge it-you have to knit a really long strip, about 15 stitches wide in double knitting garter stitch. redhotchick
It's beautiful. Who gets to keep it?
bigmommasally
I like that, it looks really cheery. I use to have a similar one that my nan made it was so lovely and cosy to cuddle up on the sofa with. Then when we got our puppy he took a liking to it and it became his! ubereglu
It's beautiful. Who gets to keep it? I think this one is technically mine, but it gets to stay in the spare bedding cupboard at the minute until the blankets all need changing round and other people come to stay! AJuff
Wow! That's a great blanket. I'd really love to knit a blanket . . it would take me a long time though. A few squares a week would be all I could manage!! Two years?
craftyhunnypie
Hiya - how many stitches & on what sized needles? Emma.x
ubereglu
The amount of stitches tended to vary as we used so many different types of yarns. In general we used Double Knitting yarn, (Any sort) throughout and 4mm needles. I tended to have 30 stitches or thereabouts-just as long as it measures 6 inches you're fine!
