HappyhenSG
Great pic Scramble! We live just 1 mile west of the runway at Lyneham and it flew right over our house this afternoon. A fantastic plane - gives me goosebumps every time it flies over!!
Sam Palmer
We saw the Vulcan and the Eurofighter Typhoon amongst others, at Dunsfold Wings and Wheels a few weeks ago (where they film Top Gear). They were brilliant. My 15 year old son has definitely decided he wants to be a pilot after seeing them.
Valkyrie
Great piccy. Love that plane. We had the Red Arrows over the day DS came back from the US - just in time for OH's cousin to ask what it was - "oh it's only the Red Arrows", but later on they whooshed past in formation. Farnborough perhaps? Haven't a clue why they were here.
The Dogmother
We've had lots of balloons too Sarah, but the ones we saw on Saturday evening were becalmed and not moving at all! Red Arrows 3 times int he last two weeks, but you have to move fast to catch them!
Valkyrie
We usually get lots of balloons around here - there is a Balloons over Basingstoke festival, plus Adventure Balloons do a lot around here. But this year they have been few and far between - not once have I been outside to wave to anyone going over. We saw one in the distance over Farnham way on Saturday evening, but that's about it. The Dogmother
Don't know what it is, but they always make me happy when I see them.
Valkyrie
I think it's to do with their brilliant flying and they're all ours - kind of national pride. I usually yell out "its the Red Arrows, it's the Red Arrows" while rushing to the window to catch sight of them - I get more excited than the rest of the family (tut tut to them). The Dogmother
I do that too... usually at work
Sheilaz
Exactly the same here Claret & Koojie, it feels such a privilege to watch them. Likewise with the other RAF planes mentioned on this topic. I was thrilled to see, and importantly hear, a Vulcan this summer. I think I took even more interest because I'd read about it here first! Chookiehen
We often have a wide variety of RAF planes fly over our house - apparently the landscape of the Scottish Borders is similar to the landscape in Afghanistan. Squidger loves them now (the noise used to make him cry), and runs to the porch everytime he hears them. The poor soul doesn't understand that they go so fast that once you hear them, they are already away over the next village!
