Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks everyone, reading your messages certainly cheered me up a bit . I didn't get to the garden centre (maybe tomorrow) but did take YS to get some speakers to go with his new TV (which we can't get to work (the speakers) ). OH and I had a long talk with ES but all we got were shrugs and grunts. I don't know what to do with him - he's such a nice boy but when it comes to school work he just switches off. We're getting a Chinese carryout tonight and I'll have some wine (probably be asleep by 9pm!). Tomorrow's another day so let's hope it's a better one . PS I inadvertantly phoned my mother (did the wrong speed dial - wanted mother-in-law ). What a fool . Short conversation about nothing - did I get a "Happy Birthday" or a "how did ES do in his exams"? Some hope .
Happy chickens!
Some people just don't get birthdays, I do sympathise - my husband's family don't really 'do' them and OH takes after them, so doesn't get the kids to do cards or anything and then is quite puzzled that I'm upset Please to see your day has improved a bit. Exams are important, but when you think about the best and happiest bits of your life, how many were related to passing exams? Perhaps he's learned an important life lesson today, and it'll be the making of him? Here's hoping for a better birthday for next year. If I had a magic wand and could give you anything, what would be wrapped up for your next birthday?

Ain't Nobody Here
EEK! You gave me a fright . I can't take shocks like that - I'm not as young as I used to be . Lovely wine, thank you .
Snowy
I've brought some rather nice fizzy wine back from La France, lovely mixed with a drop of Framboise Cassis stuff - have a glass? Happy Birthday Hun, get yourself down to that garden centre tomorrow and buy yourself the brightest, showiest blooms you can afford and put them where you will see them all the time! Have these for now:
Ain't Nobody Here
Sorry, had to go and clean Oscar's bed out . I always forget how the tubes go and it takes me ages to get them to fit together again . Gorgeous flowers, thanks, Snowy . Framboise cassis vino sounds yummy . (OH said I would have got flowers if he'd had the car yesterday . To be fair, flowers on a bike aren't easy - although he has managed it before!) Ms Marple
Sorry I missed this although I said Happy Birthday to you somewhere on here. I hope today has found you feeling brighter. Get to that garden centre asap. Sometimes it's just so hard being the only female(pets excluded!) in a household as I know only too well. You are younger than me too and you look great on your pics. Chin up girl and remember that they all love you no matter what. In my limited experience of just two sons, the late teens is the worst and then they come back to you. My ES was 21 last month and we get on fantastically now, not so when he was YS age(17).
Yorkshire Pudding
Vicki - I hope you aren't reading this because you've gone out to treat yourself to something nice (or because you're nursing a virtual hangover after all that virtual wine and cake)! chickencam
A belated birthday hug coming your way. I hope today is a better one and that you have made it to the garden centre. I am not that fussed on birthdays these days either, but as everyone has said you look a lot younger than your age.
Ain't Nobody Here
Sorry, I am reading this . OH has taken the car so the garden centre is not happening today . I feel much better though. Didn't have any wine last night (except that virtual glass!) but very nice Chinese meal and some TV and a good night's sleep. It's a sunny day and things look brighter . (My mother phoned back to say she'd noticed the date on the TV so did wish me Happy Birthday after all .)
