Yes, you've guessed it.

:(

Shankly III has crowed. I was saying to Palmer07 the other week that she had very manly legs (the chicken, not Palmer07) and the stance was very man-like. Well, at 6.30 this morning he came out and declared his man-hood.

He is going back to the breeder tomorrow and I think that we will be avoiding Shetland crossbreeds altogether now. She said that she has a lot of birds around the same age so I am hoping for a nice barbe d'uccle, preferably a mille fleur, or something. To be honest as long as it's a lady, I don't care.

My son wants to eat Shankly. What can I say? He's a deprived child...never fed!

Well, we exchanged Shankly III for a LF Australorp and the breeder gave us the last of her blue bearded silkies as I fell in love with the little sweetie. I was carrying it around and she said that she wouldn't sell it as she had had so many problems sexing the silkies as she had with the blue egg layers and she knew that I wanted girls only. We got talking and the upshot is that I took it on the understanding that if it is a boy then I will rehome him. I am sure that I wouldn't have any problems rehoming such a gorgeous bird if the need arose.

We have called the Australorp Dalglish and we have named the little silkie Nessie after Bill Shankly's wife.

They have all settled in well with the little Vorwerk, Rafa Henitas and they all toddled off to bed together tonight. It was quite sweet really. I popped my head into the eglu to see them and Rafa and Nessie were all snuggled into Dalglish. Ahhhhhh!

I will post piccies tomorrow.
