ali-s
Natalie received an official looking letter in the post yesterday. She has been called up for jury service at the local Sheriff court. Understandibly she is not keen on going and who can blame her, it is her Birthday today and she is 14 I presume her name came from the electorial register A couple of months ago she was sent a polling card for the local elections and I had to get her name taken off the register. This letter makes me think her name is still on. The information leaflet which came with the jury service letter states that if you are ineligable to do jury service you have to put the reason in writing. I am not sure if Natalie has to write this letter or If I will have to do it as she is under 18 years old. I am not keen to write as they may choose me instead
Space Chick
Bless her, must have come as a bit of a shocker Can you phone instead of write?
jlo
I would suggest that you daughter writes the letter with a copy of her birth certificate. Having said that, they shouldn't just turn around and require you to do it just because she is not eligible! Of course, it may be completely different in Scotland! edited twice as I can't spell completely apparently! Snowy
Just give them a ring, they get calls all the time, and often send out requests to inappropriate people. A few years ago i got called 3 times in 2 years!! they let me off the last one
Clur
I'd let her show up (preferably in her school uniform), that'd shock them!

ali-s
The information leaflet states that you are not allowed to phone, all correspondence must be done in writing. I have already photocopied her birth cetificate to send with the letter. There is a £200 fine if the jury service form is not sent back within 7 days even if you are not eligible, that is a lot of pocket money.
