dippy bird
is anyone as daft as us and is going camping this bank holiday weekend??? We are off to Bala - we went last year,it was a complete mud bath and we lost our tent!! Clearly haven't learned from that,as we have booked to go again in our brand new tent. Mental or wot? My bro-in-law says it's character building. ha ha ha
Old Speckled Hen
Not this weekend but we do try to get away once a fortnight. Every weekend bar one this year it has rained We bought a bigger tent so the dog could sleep inside but that has proved too cold (mind you, it was nice to be able to stand up). Now he sleeps in the car and we are snug in our little three man Vango. We have our eyes on a van to "campervan" , a project for hubby

PurpleTree
We're going camping too, place called Rhandirmwyn, near Llandovery. The rain at the mo is dreadful, but I can see a bit of brighter sky appearing, the forecast wasn't looking so bad for South and Mid Wales on Friday and Monday, don't know about North Wales though. SarahJo
Have just come back from 1 night camping - had to show my face for at least one night with the boys. Totally shattered through lack of sleep and did not really do much as OH runs the tent . Poured with rain and windy through the night - we have ( well he has ) a really good tent, so we were snug and dry - even got bacon and eggs for brekky . I am sure if I stayed longer I would adjust to the night under canvas - however, there are the animals to look after
Old Speckled Hen
Have just come back from 1 night camping ...... did not really do much as OH runs the tent Had to laugh at that My perfectly normal loving husband goes into "Fuhrer Mode" the minute a tent is involved. dippy bird
sounds like my bro-in-law who is coming with us! He tells the kids that they aren't at a holiday camp! Isn't that the whole point of camping Anyway, I am going to bake lots of yummy brownies with todays supply of eggs to take with us to keep the kids happy, and maybe a gag for my bro-in-law
Bantambabe
Yep, we're mad too! Going to Aberystwyth Friday thru Monday. Packing wellies..... Forecast isn't too bad tho.....
SarahJo
OH "runs the tent" in a nice way - has the boys off playing and has it all totally sussed for a relaxing trip, apart from meal times when the boys don't appear on time . The weather is set to improve over the next couple of days - so I will for all you campers. Still really windy in Macclesfield - but the rain has stopped . PurpleTree
My in-laws go off in their caravan all year round. They've done Scotland in the snow for New Year, unfortunately they were involved in an accident on the way back and I don't think they've back since. Hasn't stopped them caravanning though. dippy bird
apparently Bala is waterlogged - oh joy!!! Got to be better than Macclesfield though? It never stops raining here!!! Wish us luck - leaving tomorrow,oh and my teenage daughter has just asked to come with us she hasn't been for years and has no idea just how bad it gets - so now i will also need earplugs to block out her moaning. fluffyfeet
I'm off camping with OH and DS - to a place called Nympsfield in Gloucs (nr Stroud). We go there twice a year with a load of friends (about 40 of us) all ages, kids, dogs, camper vans, etc. The villagers look forward to seeing us and we camp on the King George Field for a donation to it's upkeep. Lovely camp fire after the pub, with musical friends so a good sing song too. All in all a brilliant weekend - we've been doing this for 15 years now! If anyone is near here, please come and say hi - and if you'd like to bring a tent you would be made very welcome. Dawn x PS - Forecast for this weekend improving as I type - fingers crossed for all! iar fach goch
Here's hoping that the weather gets better for you all , the weather has been awful here in North Wales the last couple of days. My veg patch is now a mud bath and the tent we had in the back garden for the boys had been ripped in two overnight. I have never seen such heavy rain as we had yesterday. We enjoy camping in our (small) van but have only managed three times this year due to work commitments, luckily we have had great weather, but this was before the summer holidays. I'm sure you'll all have fun regardless.
Happy chickens!
We went camping to Bala last week! Had 3 days of mucking about on the water - bit windy and too cold for me to swim, but the kids always love it - are you staying on the main road site or the quieter side? Think the weather is due to perk up a bit - if not at least it will be quieter...
dippy bird
we stayed on glanllyn campsite - it was completely water logged. If it wasn't for the vodka and wine I would have been home after the first night!
Alis girls
Never again after a dreadful time in Southwold 2 yrs ago in May. Newish tent leaked as did everyone elses but it was freak weather. I felt like I was in the Titanic movie as went back to tent to salvage clothes and valuables and couldnt find door (I had had several glasses of vino) air was blue %$£"(*&%^) Slept in car - ES in boot, YS on back seat and me and OH in front. Next day we and friends gathered up our bits and set off home 2 days early, some people lost tents all together and several were in the bin! kids had warm dry clothes, I was in very short shorts red wellies and top and OH was scruffy and unshaven as we poled into "LIttle Chef" looking like extras from Glastonbury. We now Yuff Hostel with 4 other famillies, warm, dry with a roof
