Pots on Patio problem

Recommended Posts

We have a square patio with kitchen wall/window on one side, orangery on another and a wall and railings to the other sides. OH says we need pots with plants and flowers in them on the patio. So I've put things into pots in a range of sides and put them on the patio.

It just looks like they are lined up with no order to them at all. I don't know how to arrange them so they look nice. Anyone got any nice photos of pots looking nice and natural?

Yours hopefully . . .

I would definitly go for grouping them in mixed sizes, it would look more natural, and if poss mixed heights - I really like chickwiggles idea of lifting some of them up. Unless you plant exactly the same pots with the same plants and put them in straight lines at equal intervals - a very formal scheme in other words, if that's more your thing.

Another thing I reckon looks nice is to have some with a bit of height - maybe for next summer grow some sweetpeas up an obelisk, or in a pot, but trained out along the railings?
