bluekarin
Last night, whilst getting into watching Arctic Monkeys at Reading I thought I fancy another glass of wine (I'll point out now I'd only had 2). So I pootle off to the kitchen (didn't turn on the light as hubby was watching something on his computer in the kitchen - where his office is. Very H.P I know) Anyway . . . I picked the bottle up and as I pull it towards me I heard a noise and something fell and hit my foot really, really hard. Then, when it smashed, I realised was a wine glass. Hubby went to turn on the light to clean up the mess and I looked at my foot thinking I'd just have a red mark where the glass hit when I realised the edge of the base of the glass had hit my middle toe so hard it had cut the skin and it was bleeding quite badly. I got some kitchen towel and wrapped it round my toe to stop it but when I took the towel off it just started bleeding as hard as before. So I spent the rest of last night and all of today with my foot up on cushions trying to stop it from bleeding (this only happened when my foot was on the floor, not the whole time). It has stopped now down now and there is no blood showing through the kitchen towel so I don't think I'll need to pay a visit to a&e but I told OH that if it was still bleeding tomorrow morning then thats where we'll be off to. Joy of joys! Was even more cross with myself as we were meant to go to At Bristol today At least the Arctic Monkeys were good

hazard
bluekarin if your toe is still bleeding when you remove the kitchen roll put a blob of vasealine on the wound then rise your leg as high as you can for 10 mins the vasealine should seal the wound and by rising your leg you make it harder for blood to get to your foot hope your toe is better soon
bluekarin
Its not bleeding like it was initially (I did apply pressure for ages, forgot to mention that). Now it's sort of weeping. The vaseline idea is a good one, thank you. What I have done now is trimmed down some dressing (wadding with sort of crepe bandage attached) applied some germolene to the wound and tied the wadding round. Not too tightly, just tight enough to keep it on. Seems to be helping. It just feels so bruised and hurts a bit when I put on shoes. Luckily I only wear shoes when I go outside and not normally in the house. Having said that if I wore shoes in the house . . . . . I keep putting my foot up when I sit down. I thought to help matters that stubbing that toe on the veggie peelings bin in the kitchen today would be a great idea. How that hurt Thank you for all your suggestions, and kind words
