Janty
As you know, Shankly III crowed. The breeder took him back and I swapped him for the friendliest chicken in the whole world (even puts Mrs. Beeton to shame), a LF Australorp that we have called Dalglish. I fell in love with a blue bearded silkie whilst I was waiting for the breeder to finish what she was doing and I snuggled it until it fell asleep in my arms. When she came over she said that she wouldn't sell that one to me as she really couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl and she didn't want to give me any more heartache having to part with a cockerel. She also said that she was not breeding silkies anymore as she really had problems sexing them and she wanted to concentrate on standardising the blue egg laying bantam that she was developing (which I can recommend - Paisley has only missed one day since she started laying). Then the breeder said that I could have the little dear but that she didn't want it back if it was a cockerel. As I know someone who breeds blue bearded silkies who would happily take a cockerel, I agreed. We have called it Nessie (after Bill Shankly's wife). Then we received a phone call from a breeder who I spoke to over a year ago about frizzle pekins and we ever so slightly collected two yesterday. Please excuse the names...hubby thinks they're ugly and wanted to name them. He has had two glasses of wine and as he doesn't drink alcohol very often (can't remember when he did last), he is quite drunk! I will change the names when he sees the error of his ways tomorrow. Janty
By the way, the Janty household is now full...I have had to buy another eglu to house this lot. Hubby is planning a special broody area to cope with them all when they all go broody together.

Janty
So are they still Pizzle and Fizzle today? Hubby fell off the settee laughing last night when he named them. It still made him laugh this morning when he asked how they were. Fizzle wasn't the first suggestion he came up with but that was banned as it was too rude. At least pizzle is Shakespearean English.
