Chook n Boo Mum
I agree definitely a jam funnel, it keeps the jars that bit cleaner as I am a mucky pup I've got a jam/maslin pan on permanent loan from my mum , but also use my pressure cooker, a le Crueset casserole pan, a huge ex-Army pressure cooker..........basically any big pan would do with a thick bottom of course, it depends on the quantities you are making. Good luck Emma, Sha x
Lesley
I have this pan.... http://www.jamjarshop.com/shop/product.asp?catid=35&pid=107 Its fabulous (was recommended by another Omleteer ) I reckon you also need a wooden spoon and a Jam Funnel. This looks the same as the Lakeland one which I have - and def. need a jam funnel!
Cinnamon
I got mine on eBay. A jam funnel is a really wise investment, but I do have to hide mine from the Hubby who declares it perfect for filtering oil into his Amphibious car
Saronne
Funnels are a must . As for the pan, I just use a stock pot or the biggest saucepan I've got. Saronne x
Mrs Webmuppet
I finally gave in and bought a proper jam pan - I got mine on ebay cost £21.98 incl P&P, the seller was Dennings diy. It arrived within 2 days of ordering. Much cheaper than lakelands.
Ygerna
I got my pan from ebay too. Have to completely agree that the Funnel is the bit you need, any thick bottomed large pan will do to start with but a funnel is a must, IMO.

hillfamily
I would also say a Jam Thermometer is a helpful piece of equipment Wouldn't be without my one Something like this one *clickety click*
Barkisland
My tip is for the 'extra long handled wooden spoon', for safe stirring. It regularly saves me from getting burnt. Also agree that a jam funnel is essential - I recommend the SS one from jamjarshop, as it's DW safe. (I previously had a non stick one from Lakeland, but the coating came off in the DW and the underneath was aluminium).
