TAJ
Tomorrow is our parish council produce show - as well as taking the chickens we have made 16 entries to different classes - some of our exhibits are better than others, so I have high hopes for some and am totally embarrassed by other entries. I tell myself it is the taking part that counts, but let's see how we do tomorrow. I promise to report back on results. Tracy
Sunshine
Its our village show on Sunday. We have never entered anything before so this year only my little sisters are entering stuff-miniature garden, decorated fairy cakes, decorated digestive biscuits and a poetry competition, Ooh and a class called 'egg-cite' where you have to display eggs for effect. We have made a house and people made from egg shells!! Good luck with your entries Tracy, its definately the taking part that counts. I love going to ours and looking how good everyones entries are. TAJ
We entered 16 of the 20 classes and got 2 * 1st place & 1 * 2nd place, that meant our prize money was more than double all of our entry money. We got a first in the vase of flowers category (home grown from seed or cutting) with a vase of sunflowers - apparently somebody wanted to buy them as they thought they were so lovely (I was too busy with my chickens/display outside to know about this at the time). There were about 14 entries in this class. The second 1st place was for 3 onions grown from sets - we entered red onions, I thought they stood a chance of a prize, but didn't expect a 1st as there were a lot of entries and though they were close in size they were not matching in size perfectly. The 2nd place was for 6 white potatoes - we entered Golden Wonder, a different variety to the standard ones and they were all of a reasonable size - again lots of competition in this class so we were very pleased. Even the ones we didn't win anything with we had judges comments (good & bad) which is good to know why points were/not awarded. TAJ
I asked OH to take photos of the exhibits for future reference - I imagined shots down the tables, so I could see details of other exhibits, anyway he chose to only photo our own and at a point when people were already taking things away! I couldn't do it myself as I was outside with my chickens and Eglu - you just cannot get the staff these days can you. Tracy
