My kids nearly burst a bloodvessel when I told them what this used to be called when they saw it on a menu. They laugh everytime we go into our local pub where it is listed as 'Spotted Richard'

I think it's crackers! My nan made a yummy spotted dick - although the innuendo was never noticed in those days. Somtimes we called it spotty dog because the 101 dalmations was popular at the time. Somehow Spotted Richard begs to be made more fun of and will draw even more cackling laughter.

At secondary school (aged 11ish) we had to sit at our table with a teacher at lunchtime and we were unfortunate to have an elderly biology teacher (droopy moustache and specs) who made an unfortuante comment re spotted D--k which would make you laugh but would make mods cross and send me a message but I still remember it and so does a friend I see occasionally. It was rude and we all blushed. Either he was a dirty old man or had beginnings of dementia.
