yogurt

Recommended Posts

i've seen on here that people give their chooks yogurt and i was wondering what type of yogurt it was :?: tia is still laying a softie every day (since july :!: ) and i was wondering if it might help. she has grit available all day, pellets, poultry spice, limestone powder, cod liver oil and crushed eggshells and she's been wormed, but no improvement. she's a happy little girl and seems healthy other than the softies and it's causing an issue with the other girls. every evening between 6 and 7 she starts looking like she's going to lay her softie, the other girls harass her and now they don't wait til it falls out they were pecking at her vent until it bled :( i managed to rescue her and spray her with purple spray but had to shut her in the eglu until she'd laid her softie because they were relentless. so now i'm having to patrol the run armed with a water pistol until she's laid  the other 3 are laying beautiful eggs with nice hard shells so not sure what her problem is :(

When mine are laying a softie (they sometimes lay them during the night but if obvious during the day)I take her away and put her in the portch with a roosting bar and cat box (no door on it) with bedding, water and little treats, cover the cat box with a blanket. No one ever comes in our front door (porch) so she is left in peace with her treats water and darkness, next day she is good as new and boc bocing at 6am to be let back into the run. No harassment from the other and a little R & R
