What do you all think of the new pets at home chicken range?

 

I went and had a look yesterday and bought some egg boxes (I think it was £1.99 for ten) and a small plastic drinker for when they are free ranging.

 

I am sure it isnt cheap but that had a nice little range there of stuff like louse powder, red mite, pellets, small to huge drinkers, grit, corn. They did have Verm-x too.

 

Just shows how popular its getting.

Some of it is quite expensive, the grit is packaged very 'country kitchen' in wholesome brown paper but is very expensive for the quantity, the egg boxes are also quite expensive

 

The things that are good value for money are the red base feeders and drinkers, they are better made and designed than the same sort of thing from elsewhere

I bought some chick crumbs there the other day as my usual stockist hadn't got any.

They've got a few good bits. but i think a lot of it s over priced..... for example they have a food scoop for about £8 and one for £6 but if u wander round the store they have about another 6 for different pets all a lot cheaper.

 

I got the chicken Leg rings from there (£1.99) and a water feeder(£6.99) and a food feeder thing (£8.99)

 

EDIT - And 2 cat food scoops for 99p each

They had corn on the cob there but it was really pricey. I have bought the girls 6 mini corn on the cob from iceland for £1, much better value

 

You can also get the dried mealworms cheaper elsewhere too.

 

However, handy to know in an emergency

I bought 10 dried corn on the cob from there ages ago. The girls wouldn't even look at them .

it's handy to know that they are doing chicken stuff - my sis-in-law has just bought four girlies and whoever sold them to her didn't advise her to get any grit!! I have given her some of mine, but at least she can go and get some for herself now.

That is an absolute rip off! I bought a 25 kilo bag the other day for £6 at a local farm supply shop in Chelford!

Ouch, I could buy about three bags for that price from Mole Valley!

 

With the drinkers how much are they? Mole Valley do5 litre ones for just over £2.50 I think.

The massive bags of pellets look alright, but the price tag isnt. Try and befreind people who work at farms, they usually have pellets and corn, crumb, ect and will sell it you for a cheap price
