fluffyknickers
At dog training they use Liver Cake as a treat and gave me the recipe. My house now smells very nice of cooked liver and garlic and Yogy thinks its delish. Its great to use as smells strong and at least I know whats in it and they only need a small amount. It consists of lambs liver, garlic, 4 eggs (used the girls!) and porridge oats (recipe says organic but I didnt use all organic) all pulsed up and cooked in the oven and it freezes. If interested I can post the recipe here. Michelle
Snowy
Oooh yes please! Need something to tempt my non foody doggle!
Sunshine
Just don't give them too much. I learnt the hard way as when I took Lola to dog training on Tuesday i gave her about 2 thumb nail sized pieces of liver and the next morning she had diarrhea-not nice. I'm going to use left over burger next week to see if that is any better.
chooklady
I use a recipe similar to that for my dog treats, they are far better than the bought ones and a fraction of the price. My recipe contains wholemeal flour and polenta, liver, garlic and eggs. I usually use Ox liver or chicken livers.
Seagazer
I used to make a variation of this for Cookie for training. All the dogs loved us but my family were not keen. It really does stink as its cooking but it is really good.

fluffyknickers
Will post on here later - it uses lambs liver (I assume ox liver would be fine too). As per the diar..dier...runny poo....you only need to give a very small amount each time as its so strong and (to them) tasty. My dog isnt interested in food at all but does seem to like this a lot. Seagazer
Cookie was always fine with this and it never upset her stomach but my friend's staffie used to get runny poo. But he gets runny poo at the wink of an eye
craftyhunnypie
most doggies also like sausage. That's what we used when we used to show ours & take them dog training. Just a little bit. Emma.x
stoice
our doggy class gave me a stinky recipe. If you have a strong stomach (And several hours to 'fumigate' the house) here's the recipe... Small tin of pilchards Generous prinkle of garlic powder 3 eggs (Thanks girls) handful of plain flour mash all together in a bowl and microwave until it 'sets' into a cake. Cut into bite size chunks. Put into airtight, stink proof container. It also freezes. It honks but all the other dogs in class loved me the day i came in with those treats! (Plus the fish is good for their coat)

Sunshine
Well i posted earlier about Lola not getting on with liver at training classes. When i took her this week the trainer said to put liver in my hand so the smell attracted her and then reward her with cheese. This worked perfectly and so training is moving on slowly. The Dogmother
I'll tell you what my totally non-food-loving hound loves...... get those cheap, disgusting Herta Frankfurters (greta beacuse you can freeze them and break off one when you need it), and some of that plasticy mild cheddar. Chop both into tiny, weeny cubes about 0.5cm cubed and she loves them... like Doggy Crack! It's th one thing guaranteed to get her attention, well apart from bnuny rabbits that is! Makes your fingers smell mind
stoice
disgusting Herta Frankfurters My dog LURVES these! Bit stinky and slimy but great as a high reward treat. (Too many one training session did produce a 'nasty' after affect the next day though, so we cut them up small as Claret suggests so a little goes a long way)
The Dogmother
Ruby actually recognises the packet now when I take it out of the freezer! They're pretty cheap and so is the cheapo cheese. Don't freeze the cheese first though or it'll crumble.
fluffyknickers
Sorry I have taken so long to add this.... 750g Porridge Oats 400g lambs liver 1 whole garlic BULB 4 Eggs Put liver, garlic, eggs and a little olive oil into a blender and mix until smooth. Pour in the porridge oats and mix together ensure all oats are coated in the mixture. Spread over a non-stick baking tray (I rubbed some olive oil over the tray to prevent sticking) and bake in overn gas mark 6 or electric 200 degrees for approx 20-25 mins until top is firm to touch and light brown. Cut up into cubes. I then keep a cube of it on me and break off very small pieces when needed. Keeps in fridge for approx 2 weeks and also freezes well. I freeze mine then get a piece out before training and it defrosts in no time. Michelle
