Nigel Slaters simple suppers

Recommended Posts

I have been really enjoying this series, & wondered if anyone else had been watching it?

I love Nigel - he just seems so normal,so into his food & his vegetable garden isn't a wonderful showpiece, but a proper veg patch :D

I think he is very underrated & he is certainly one of my most favourite chefs on TV & in print :P

hmmmm, sort of undecided on this prog. I find it irritating that he keeps referring to, what is clearly the main evening meal (which most people call 'dinner'), as supper!? Supper to me is a cup of tea and a biccie :D

I'm the sort of cook who throws things together anyway so I wasn't getting a great deal from the prog other than admiring his garden.

when you say his veg garden isn't a show piece, I just kept thinking how expensive those wicker cloches are, he had loads of them!!! His garden is definitely what I'd call a show garden!

I'm loving the hairy bikers tour of britain and jamie's american tour at the moment. i loved the idea of the secret supper (sorry dinner!) clubs and the illegal restaurants in jamie's prog last week

Jamie has been fab, hasn't he,but I am afraid that the Hairy Bikers have got a bit annoying for me.

Love Nigel though, & still think his garden is more normal than some (although Hughs is by far the best! )

I just love his way of doing things, it seems so effortless.

Must be a southern thing, we call it supper too...........

I like Nigel Slater and love his vegi patch but not sure about the recipes with a hungry family to feed. I dont think some of them would fill my sons little finger.

However has anyone read any of his books. I loved 'Toast, the story of a boys hunger'. Its the story of his childhood through memories of food. I thought it was a really good read.
